Instead, the poignancy of Jones’ ideas shines through, resonating more and more as each instrumental layer falls into place.” Black Snake LP is out 9/13 via yk Records. Young Guv is dedicated and prolific songwriter Ben Cook. Today he’s announced the second part of his double LP series, GUV II, coming via Run For Cover on October 25. Just off the heels of GUV I, released earlier in the summer, GUV II serves as a sequel collection of profoundly poignant and infectious pop tunes with choruses you’ll never forget and lyrics whose dry wit and understated acuity will knock you flat.
The song was originally released on 07/16/1986, produced by Ducewa, Missy Elliot recently released her new single “Throw It Back” with the same hook, pretty weird, great minds think alike, simple. This tune is high energy twerk, bass, type of club banger, you can play at any home girls birthday.
Diplo’s recent splash into country music has been lauded by Rolling Stone as “impressively graceful,” while the Washington Post praises “So Long” as “the century’s first great EDM-country song.”
Of the song, Thaiboy says, “As soon as Gud played me the beat, I knew I had to get on it and I envisioned the track being played in big arenas. It really adds to the more dark and ‘clubby’ part of the album.”
“We shot the video in London with Daniel Swan while finishing Legendary Member,” he says of the video. “I really fucks with John Wick so I wanted to incorporate that feeling to the video but with some additional elements like Yakuza and The Matrix to the mix.”
Produced by Antony Genn, “Ice Cream Sundae” is the band’s third single, following on from the atmospheric pop of “My Honest Face” and the expansive epic “It Won’t Always Be Like This.” Hewson (vocals, guitar), Josh Jenkinson (guitar), Robert Keating (bass) and Ryan McMahon (drums) formed in school in Dublin and quickly set about writing tracks that pulled their influences – ranging from The Stone Roses, Joy Division, Depeche Mode, Interpol, The Cure and more – together and twisted them into a sound of their own.
