Lately says “Run” is about “getting out of your own head and just going after what it is you know you truly want. Me and Space Cadet made this beat together the first weekend that we started working on the album. It was one of like 10 beats that we made that weekend, and I started writing to like 3 or 4 of them. Later that week I just ended up combining all the songs on this beat because I realized I was talking about the same thing in all of them. It was just really like exactly where I was at the time, and I had to get it off before I could move on. After that the whole album just kind of just flowed together from there.”

Dead Horse Beats is the project of multi-instrumentalist Patrick Wade who has been working under the moniker since 2010. Inglaterra sees Dead Horse Beats push further into the soulful sound established in 2016’s Bad Hopes EP, with lush, jazzy chord progressions and sax hooks, all held together by the signature DHB pristine production. Wade’s vocals take centre stage on this album, with a greater focus on lyrics. The Spanish word for England; Inglaterra explores the concept of a rainy vacation through deep, spacey grooves complimenting typically pessimistic but vulnerable lyrics.

THE BE POSITIVES is a northern conundrum. It features two members from Slovenly Records garage-rock outfit Proto Idiot, who’ve found support from Dork, Loud And Quiet, Louder Than War and VICE.
Of the same vein as Cut Worms, filled with Lemon Twigs-esque zest, second slice ‘Like Everyone’ flaps about with math-rock melodies and striking signatures – you never quite know where you stand – aligning it both musically and conceptually, feeding into Mike’s howls of “we’re like everyone…”
LIAM GALLAGHER SHARES NEW VIDEO FOR “ONE OF US”
It’s ten years to the week since Oasis split following a cancelled show in Paris. Liam Gallagher’s new single “One Of Us” looks at the impact that their break-up has had in a song which explores issues of family, belonging and potential reconciliation. Gallagher co-wrote “One Of Us” along with Andrew Wyatt. His youngest son Gene contributed bongos, accompanied by Nick Zinner of Yeah Yeah Yeahs on guitar.
Dan Moxon – ‘Playing With Fire’
“While on a trip in the Sunshine Coast, I wrote some songs for Lounge Singer. I came up with the melody of “Playing With Fire” on the ferry and started writing the words on my mini keyboard while watching my niece and nephews try to build a campfire. As they threw on more and more cardboard, paper and things that made the fire flare up unnecessarily, the chorus of this new song just fell into place. I finished writing it within a few days.”
