William DuVall (Alice In Chains) announces solo dates / celebrates radio success

William DuVall’s first solo album, One Alone, is a smoldering, all-acoustic affair. In contrast to the multi-layered sonic assault comprising most of his discography, One Alone is as sparse and intimate as it gets – part late-night confessional, part living room concert. As William describes it, “I felt the need to peel everything back. This album is strictly one voice, one guitar. It reveals the very core of who I am as a singer, guitarist, and songwriter.” The album’s first single, ‘Til The Light Guides Me Home, is a song of redemption in the wake of tragedy.

Ian Munro Reworks Crywolf’s “Mephistopheles” Into A Dark, Glitchy Fantasy

“Mephistopheles,” one of the more somber tunes from Crywolf’s widow [OBLIVIØN pt. 1] album, sees an irresistibly dark recreation from New Zealand-based producer Ian Munro. Munro’s recreation is the eighth installment in Crywolf’s OBLIVIØN [Reimagined] series, a weekly string of remixes that has showcased some of electronic music’s top up-and-coming talent.

Marco Benevento Drops an “End of Summer Anthem” with Thanks to Richard Swift

Today, Marco Benevento releases “Send It On A Rocket,” his self-proclaimed “end of summer anthem” and third single ahead of new album Let It Slide (out September 20th on Royal Potato Family). In between references to reefer and Topo Chico, deep pockets of bass and spaced-out synths, the cascading composition reveals that behind the bandleader who covers his piano strings in gaffers tape and enjoys walking his pet goats and peacocks through the Catskill woods, there are patches of sorrow he’s now ready to contemplate more seriously than ever.

Ian Munro Reworks Crywolf’s “Mephistopheles” Into A Dark, Glitchy Fantasy

Ian Munro’s reimagination to “Mephistopheles” sees a cascading enhancement of raw emotions, capitalizing on Crywolf’s melancholy vocals. When choosing which song to remix, Munro explains that “choosing only one track to work with was next to impossible.” After listening to the album on repeat for a few days, he felt that he most connected with “Mephistopheles” and it “pulled him in.”

POP VANGUARD CHARLI XCX WELCOMES HAIM ON LATEST SONG ‘WARM’ ARRIVING TODAY FROM FORTHCOMING ‘CHARLI’ LP

‘It’s a really beautiful song and the idea actually came about because A. G. sent me this demo of him singing just a melody, no lyrics, but it was so beautiful, and I sat with it for ages and just played it over and over again. I really like it when A. G. sings, it’s always really inspiring to me so I wrote these lyrics, it’s about unrequited love or more just like when you are in it with someone and they are a player and you aren’t in that zone and you just can’t get on the same page. Danielle, Este and Alana came over to our studio house and they wrote their part, we were in LA when we did that and I’m just very happy we got to collaborate.’ – Charli

Art Folk/Avant Pop Group Very Good releases “Adulthood” Single, LP Due Oct 11

Hi all, just following up with the next single from this singular and beautiful album, which I still can’t stop listening to. “Adulthood” starts off with some dissonant, rumbling, Mingus-y piano chords before coalescing into some loose, Band-style country funk, with the vocal call and response supplied by a recorder, fantastic guitar leads by Adam Brisbin (Sam Evian, Buck Meek), and finally culminates in a full band freakout with a great sax solo by Ned Goold. Like most of the record, it’s extremely difficult to describe and sounds like basically nothing else.

International Shoegaze Collective Mercvrial Cover The Chills “Pink Frost”

“‘Pink Frost’ is the song on the EP that is most unlike the others as it’s vaguely… electronica (of all things). To us, it sounds like a collaboration between Depeche Mode and Sad Lovers & Giants, which was pretty much an accident. We wanted to cover the song but didn’t want to do a straight rendition of it. And as our reinterpretation wandered into electronica territory… we didn’t try to stop it.”

IKEBE SHAKEDOWN’S NEW LP “KINGS LEFT BEHIND” DEBUTS AT #2 ON BILLBOARD’S JAZZ CHART!

[A- review] “Celebrating ten years of existence, this funky instrumental outfit are tight in the manner of such neo old-school funk and soul acts as Budos Band and of course the Dap Kings. That is, they are totally in sync without turning the proceedings into a blatant display of showing-off. They can go up-tempo in a manner fit for parties in clubs or fields (they’ve played Bonnaroo and can imagine they went down a storm), but they are just as inclined toward nifty arrangements.” – THE VINYL DISTRICT
