“I set out to make an EP with a simple concept: great house music. Even though it’s been the backbone of dance music, I still have always looked to drive the sound forward. I wanted you to be able to listen to the music anywhere – driving in the car, in your bedroom, at the club or played out at a festival. I also wanted to bring in some collaborators that I felt have always been pushing boundaries in Diplo, Wuki & Chris Lorenzo. So here’s my ‘House Party’ EP. I’m truly proud to release this body of work to the world. Listen to this everywhere and anywhere.” – Valentino Khan
Something magical happens when the sultry hot jazz made famous by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli meets the hard-driving Western swing sound pioneered by Bob Wills and early string bands of the American Southwest. The ear-catching result of this surprising marriage is the Hot Club of Cowtown, the effervescent Austin-based trio beloved for more than two decades by devoted fans across the United States and around the world. Romantic and rhythmic, happy-making and heart-breaking, sophisticated and elegant while still down-to-earth and rugged, the Hot Club of Cowtown now returns with its much-anticipated eleventh album, an enticing new collection of original compositions (plus a few inspired standards) entitled Wild Kingdom.
EXHUMED To Release Horror October 4th Via Relapse Records
wenty-one years since their murderous debut, EXHUMED continues their onslaught of gore-obsessed death metal on their new album, Horror, coming October 4th via Relapse Records.
Aptly titled, Horror is an exploration of all things macabre, as the undisputed pioneers of neck-breaking riffs plow through fifteen of the band’s most intense tracks to date. Nightmares meet shred, as the speed-inducing track “Ravenous Cadavers” highlight EXHUMED’s penchant for blazing, face melting guitar work, while “Naked, Screaming And Covered In Blood” and “Playing With Fear” elevate EXHUMED to levels of grind unheard of since Gore Metal!

“Electric Youth’s mastery of moods has never sounded as ambitious as it does on Memory Emotion’s opening track, ‘The Life’… the music spans a film’s worth of feelings — romance, spacey majesty, a newfound urgency — while it reaches toward the stars. Many of the album’s songs feel like they’re from forgotten movies, or ones that haven’t been made yet.” – AllMusic

Raised in California’s Central Valley on country music and The Carpenters, Boy Scouts aka Taylor Vick picked up her first guitar in fourth grade. She started writing her own songs not long after, inspired by acoustic guitar-wielding radio icons like the Dixie Chicks and Michelle Branch. Now an Oakland-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Vick makes the kind of music that hits like good advice from a beloved friend. In the vein of Frankie Cosmos and Florist, her music is generously warm and inviting, built atop her open, searching voice, but it doesn’t shy away from tough emotional truths.

JPEGMAFIA SHARES ‘JESUS FORGIVE ME, I AM A THOT’ VIDEO
“It’s nice to have something out that’s more me. I hiked five fucking hours for this fucking shoot. Five. fucking hours. If anybody doesn’t like it then fuck you. I hiked five hours. I don’t care. It’s beautiful, it’s elegant, and it doesn’t have to force you into keeping your attention. I just wanted something that was able to be suspenseful without forcing it. This video is just me existing. I wanted you to be moved by what’s going on. And if not, then fuck you. I hiked five hours.” – JPEGMAFIA
Devon Welsh: “Somebody Loves You”
Devon Welsh just announced his sophomore Album True Love (out Oct 11 on his own record label You Are Accepted.) In an age of collaborations & high-end production — Devon Welsh highlights the importance of the individual voice as an instrument in music. After his 1st solo album Dream Songs in 2018 (Pitchfork, FADER, Noisey, Billboard, etc), he moved to rural Wisconsin to recorded this new album while working on his emotional health through meditation and therapy… True Love reflects on the real, ambiguous emotional spaces around love – romantic, platonic, internal; how it can be a game, a daydream, a paradise, or horror. It also touches on our culture’s rigid notions of manhood / masculinity, with men now trying to move past macho stereotypes into a deeper, more authentic understanding of identity & love.

Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Paula Cole premieres “Go On”
“‘Go On’ began 26 years ago in 1993, a melody and groove I composed while living in San Francisco just starting my career,” Cole explains to Parade. “My manager Carter thought it was a hit (even though there were no words!) but I never finished the song. Carter is sadly no longer alive, I miss him very much, and I finally finished the song for him. I hope he is right about it, we’ll see! I think I just needed to live life a while in order to have something lyrically fitting for the music. Post-divorce, 13 years deep into my relationship with the love of my life, in all its struggle and beauty, I’ve found my words.”
Boston’s Alt. Rock pioneers Letters to Cleo will be headed back out on the road this fall for a short run of intimate shows on the east and west coast including their annual pair of homecoming shows at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston. The band will be doing two nights at the Paradise with both single and two-day tickets available. The idea for the annual homecoming shows started in 2016 when the band was on the road supporting their first release in 17 years, their Back to Nebraska EP. The band was on stage at the Paradise playing to an enthusiastic and elated hometown crowd when their manager suggested “same time next year?,” and now this year will be their fourth annual set of homecoming shows. In addition to the two Boston shows the tour starts out in Los Angeles, with stops in Washington D.C. and Pawtucket, RI.
Reduction Plan’s music comes from within solitude’s frigid embrace. Pulling from 80s goth, industrial, dream-pop, as well as cacophonous no-wave, Reduction Plan uses both noise and space to illustrate the power of silence. Synth swells, hypnotic guitars, pulsing drum machines, and haunting murmurs form the foundation of the project’s sound.
