Tracy Bryant shares “Bury Me” + new album ‘Hush’ out 8/30

Solo artist Tracy Bryant may not have all the answers, but without a doubt, he’s got a lot to say. Bryant stands in opposition in his native Los Angeles, the city is known too often for its superficial facade. He does what he wants and always has. Inspired by artists and bands like Alex Chilton, Lou Reed, R.E.M., and Cass McCombs, his words ring refreshingly honest embedded into a sound that is undeniably modern. A songwriter lacking the nonsense, the male bravado, the rock ‘n’ roll cliché.

The project inspired him and long time friend/collaborator Virgil Abloh to coin a new genre “Black Wave”: music with produced beats, guitars and singling melody. HXLT has been a true original since the early 2000s and holds many unique places in Chicago. He went from gang life into punk rock world where his fusion of hip hop and punk ideology influenced many past and current big names coming out of the city. He’s been revered and respected for the past 15 years and is still close with everyone he’s met along the way; from former gang members, punk kids and good friends like Virgil.

Dame had this to say about Big D.O.L.L.A. “This third album is special to me because I’m really the brains and creator behind it. With my two previous albums, I took a lot of opinions from others into account during the recording sessions. With Big D.O.L.L.A., it was just the engineer and me in the studio the majority of the time, so I was able to have a clearer mind and make my own decisions.”

Great stuff.” “The Los Angeles band’s gritty new guitar-rock rumbler aches and thrashes in all the right spaces and places,” raved Vanyaland. “‘Worthy Girl’ suggests big things are ahead for the quartet.”
