“We shot the video over the course of a day with our good friend Kelsey Giesbriecht in the forest at home in Winnipeg, Canada. So, it made this experience pretty relaxed and fun. The video plays off as Franky trying to find the right path to his destination in his head, but as everyone knows the self conscious thoughts can get in the way very easily. So I depict the self conscious part of him continuously trying to stop him from reaching and achieving his goal. SAUL WILLIAMS RELEASES NEW ALBUM + NEW VIDEO FOR TITLE TRACK
Watch the video for the title track directed by actress, playwright, and director Anisia Uzeyman. The visual stars Saul alongside jazz trumpeter Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah and a beautiful cast dressed in a sea of colors. Styling for the video comes from Autumn Randolph with hair and makeup by Tanya Melendez. Describing the video Williams notes that it’s “a power bank. Fortified by the footprints of migrants and the rarest of minerals, it is charged and recharged by the harmonious interweaving of human awareness, space/time alignment, and electro-magnetic frequencies on the spectrum of light.”

Frontman Dan Lamb says, “Happy Sad is a song about finding solace in feeling happy whilst ultimately accepting you also must be sad, I wrote the song from the perspective of a third party seeing me cope with my moods during taking anti-depressants. Eventually I came to realise that living in a limbo state of happiness and sadness was not natural and I gradually took myself off of them and began to deal with my natural state.
