The High Priestess Hooker Of Rock, Eddy Lee Ryder Enthralls With ‘Small Apartment’

In a respectably seedy corner of New York City resides one of the great characters of music, Eddy Lee Ryder, a singer-songwriter whose true-life stories are infinitely more eye-popping than any number of fabricated nonsense you get from some of the pretenders out there. Channeling not only artists such as Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush and Elvis Costello but also the wild 70’s fug of Times Square and 42nd Street bars, Eddy is the conduit through which the charismatic phantoms of yore travel on the way to the 7-11. Small Apartment is her new single, a glimpse at the harrowing contents of her dwelling in a building that is equal parts Chelsea Hotel and Muppet Show Theatre.

Erasure Remixes Fujiya & Miyagi On PopMatters

“Clarke is quick to open the bonnet and inject the song with a little more oomph. Stripping away the majority of the post-punk meets Italo-disco components of the original, Clarke instead focuses on amplifying the groove and steering the whole thing straight to the heart of the dancefloor.” – PopMatters
