NEWS: EIlen Jewell’s new single “79 Cents (The Meow Song)” echoes pay inequality rallying cry in U.S.

The online magazine Americana Highways today premiered Eilen Jewell’s second single “79 Cents (The Meow Song)” from the forthcoming album Gypsy (out August 16, 2019 on Signature Sounds). Skewering sexism and discrimination with pointed humor and a rousing sing-along chorus, Jewell sings, “And don’t forget, Mama gets less/It’s the motherhood penalty/With a baby on her hip/Office phone against her lip/ For a raise she’ll never see.” Americana Highways notes, “Eilen Jewell has created the perfect blend of satire here, and the music is catchy as hell.”
