David Lynch collaborator Dean Hurley shares new single, ‘Anthology Resource Vol. II’ out July 12

“My stuff more often than not operates in the zone between sound design and music. Far Boundaries is the only track on this album that actually has a quantifiable meter and resembles a song. Within the arc of the album experience, the track specifically represents the paradigm of time…illustrated through its single arpeggiated phrase, metered to the second-hand tick of a traditional clock. Our own understanding of time is so bizarre that we simply outright suspend the concept that we actually experience everything in the past. Behind the curtain, so to speak, the entire mechanism of the brain is working on a sliding scale of latency (some say from 15-70 milliseconds)…operating in a mode of prediction-based anticipation. Essentially, our whole lives are being lived on a delay…and our brains are calculating this latency into its predictions of reality. When you stop to think about how our minds glide through time and how our memory provides links to the past and envisions the future, it sounds like bonafide time travel. Could we be capable of actually remembering the future, or does the architecture of our brains permanently shackle us to a linear understanding of time? This, to me, is the outer boundary of logic and what perhaps keeps us from truly grasping the larger concepts of what is truly beyond our physical reality.”

GRACE VANDERWAAL RELEASES NEW SINGLE “UR SO BEAUTIFUL”

“This song is romantic but it’s also empowering — it can be directed at anything or anyone,” says Grace. “‘Beautiful’ is always used in feminine terms, but when I wrote this song it was originally about a guy…but it’s also kind of a note to self… a song to boost your confidence. Like, I know I’m beautiful… don’t I know that? I always try to hide it but then when I’m alone and am looking in my bathroom mirror, I know I’m beautiful. I’m good enough. I hope everyone feels that.”

RONNIE WOOD – THE ROLLING STONES SET LISTS – WITH FOREWORD BY MICK JAGGER – OUT NOW

Life is full of lists and our rehearsals are no exception.

Every day we run through a potential show, Ronnie puts a canvas on an easel and with great aplomb wields his multicoloured pens to fashion a colourful record of the day’s musical events.

Sometimes I have to tear him away from the list to get back to the music, as he gets very involved in the calligraphy!

No longer Brahms and Liszt himself, Ronnie has given us a new twist on the list.

I hope you enjoy the book.
