Introducing Sub Dio (mem. of The Ghost, Wunder Years)

It’s always a good day when you check your inbox and find new music from Brian Moss. Today, I’m happy to introduce Sub Dio, a band that consists of a lot of familiar faces from the Bay Area punk scene. Featuring former members of Great Apes, The Ghost, and Reunions, Sub Dio play a brand of punk that is rooted in urgency and aggression. Their self-titled debut will release on July 19th but you can get a preview of what’s to come by listening to “Skeeters” today. The song is a direct response to predatory, parasitic, and incessant behavior many men feel entitled to exhibit towards women. Brian and Danica’s dual vocal approach is a shot to the gut and demands your attention. Head over to No Echo for the exclusive.

David Lynch collaborator Dean Hurley shares new single, ‘Anthology Resource Vol. II’ out July 12

“My stuff more often than not operates in the zone between sound design and music. Far Boundaries is the only track on this album that actually has a quantifiable meter and resembles a song. Within the arc of the album experience, the track specifically represents the paradigm of time…illustrated through its single arpeggiated phrase, metered to the second-hand tick of a traditional clock. Our own understanding of time is so bizarre that we simply outright suspend the concept that we actually experience everything in the past. Behind the curtain, so to speak, the entire mechanism of the brain is working on a sliding scale of latency (some say from 15-70 milliseconds)…operating in a mode of prediction-based anticipation. Essentially, our whole lives are being lived on a delay…and our brains are calculating this latency into its predictions of reality. When you stop to think about how our minds glide through time and how our memory provides links to the past and envisions the future, it sounds like bonafide time travel. Could we be capable of actually remembering the future, or does the architecture of our brains permanently shackle us to a linear understanding of time? This, to me, is the outer boundary of logic and what perhaps keeps us from truly grasping the larger concepts of what is truly beyond our physical reality.”

SAUL WILLIAMS ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM + DROPS NEW VR VIDEO

With the new album, Williams’ goal was to touch people in new ways with what he calls “invisible and implied beats”. While listening fans will find themselves bumping their head to the tracks that have no drums, achieved through Saul Williams demanding grasp on language through his poetry as well as how he programmed the music: “I wanted to make an album with invisible beats- I always want people to dance – but this time I wanted the drums to be DIY. I figured the drums in your head could be crazier & more complex than anything I could program. So I started working on sounds that would instigate that. You feel the rhythm & you’re already dancing in anticipation of the drums… that was one goal of the album.”

Janice Prix formed in the small industrial town of Trollhättan, Sweden. But from performing at Berlin Music Week and being active in the Swedish Club scene, Janice Prix have successfully established a place for their unique indie-pop within a town traditionally dominated by metal and punk.

Dalton Domino Releases New Music Video for ‘Daddy’s Mud’

Dalton Domino is one of the best young songwriters out there, and his devastating new single “Daddy’s Mud” (and its powerful accompanying video) is a great example of why. The song, a standout from Domino’s upcoming album Songs from the Exile (out August 23rd on Lightning Rod Records), covers a range of emotional territories – broken homes; young parents unable to care for themselves, let alone children; resentment that grows from the strife family break ups can cause – but ultimately the most cutting lyrics are the one’s Domino sings about himself. And the simple yet moving video brings Domino’s barbed, self-aware lyrics into greater focus.

ackerman unveils shimmering new single “84 Palms” w/ interview in Impose

The track premiered via Impose along with an interview where the band shared, “’84 Palms’ is kind of a song about transitional periods… I don’t know if I can be more concise than that without sounding strange. Listen to the song, and tell me what you think! I had been really inspired by vocal samples, so I was experimenting with various techniques in that realm, and the instrumental just sort of came incredibly fast. Sometimes, it gets easy to get caught in a rut with the logistical aspects of recording, but I like to fight through that.”
