Monsoon Moon walks the head VS heart tightrope on debut single ‘Just Friends’

“If only I could stay the night as a friend, if only we could live no regrets…” The last lines of Monsoon Moon’s debut hang heavy. The single, ‘Just Friends’ is a strong offering about whether impulsive decisions prove to be the best ones. From the artist formerly known and beloved as Command Q, ‘Just Friends’ is the tip of an iceberg of music from the WA musician; stirring and ready to go.

Throwing himself deeper into music and songwriting after wrapping up the Command Q project in 2017, Monsoon Moon (aka Shaun Pickett) presents a new facet of his artistry with this new project. Self-aware and open, Monsoon Moon produces music with evocative strength in its production and insatiable delivery. ‘Just Friends’ was recorded in Melbourne with the heavyweight producer Joel Quartermain before returning home in Perth to be mixed and mastered by Shaun himself at Digital Bath Studios.

WITCH VOMIT: Portland Death Cult To Release Buried Deep In A Bottomless Grave Full-Length

On their new LP, WITCH VOMIT — featuring members of fellow Portland crushers Torture Rack — moves toward perfecting the surgical fusion between the driving Scandinavian style violence and subconscious terror that they’ve previously established and the gore obsessed smashing of their American forbears. Subtlety is abolished for a savage attack, imprinted on your withering mind like an impulsive stab to the throat from a crazed stranger, all the while a dreadful sense of eerie melody rings throughout the album.

Through “wicked good guitars” and a gritty garage band sound, RunHideFight is sure to keep you moshing through the early hours of the morning. “Coco Blood is a coming of age song,” Celeste reveals. “The main lyric ‘are you warm enough’ is about an inner conversation with yourself. For Skope: GRAVEDGR’s new sinister single “RAWSIDE” ft. Lit Lords [out on Carnage’s Heavyweight]

Notoriously mysterious producer GRAVEDGR is back on Carnage’s Heavyweight Records, this time teaming up with a duo with equally heavy taste in bass music – Texan duo Lit Lords, who bring their hard-trap sound to the new release “RAWSIDE.” True to its name, the track delivers a cacophonous, disharmonized mixture of ear-splitting, mind-bending effects, including stabbing and serrating synths, deep warbling basslines and its signature vocal hook “welcome to the RAWSIDE.” The new single is GRAVEDGR’s 6th release on Heavyweight, following his recent “KAMIKAZE” and its VIP version earlier this year. Lit Lords are known for their prior releases on Dim Mak, Harsh Records and Thrive Music. Let’s hope there are more collaborations to come from these forces of nature very soon!

VICTIMS: Decibel Premieres The Horse And Sparrow Theory Full-Length From Stockholm Hardcore Crust Punk Veterans

Issues Decibel of the release, “The Horse And Sparrow Theory is a ripping journey into the bowels of crust punk, d-beat and hardcore, recalling their contemporaries like His Hero Is Gone and Tragedy. With a clear-but-dirty production job from Karl Daniel Lidén, The Horse And Sparrow Theory takes aim at the fucked state of the world with vitriol. A dreary tone surrounds The Horse And Sparrow Theory, reflecting its subject matter. Even though the melodies are dark and the layers of feedback and distortion are suffocating, songs like ‘Fires Below’ and ‘The Birth Of Tragedy’ are also anthemic and catchy like the best punk tunes are.”
