Chris Rivers has rap royalty coursing through his veins. Being the son of the legendary Big Pun may help you get your foot in the door, but it doesn’t promise you longevity. Quicksilver Daydream Announce New LP, Share Track On Glide | ‘Fly Oblivion’ LP Out Later This Summer
Quicksilver Daydream has announced their new LP Fly Oblivion and shared the track “Warmth Of Other Suns” on Glide Magazine.
“One of the last songs written before heading into the studio, ‘Warmth of Other Suns’ bloomed out of a jam during some downtime at our rehearsal space,” says the band. “With a couple of weeks to go, we wanted to create a strong counterpoint to some of the softer moments on the album. The menacing pulse Alex laid down on the Mellotron, put us on the right track. After recording the song live at Seaside Lounge, our producer Jonathan Schenke took the reigns; manipulating the sounds further via his modular synthesizer. This combination of live performance energy and studio wizardry became a hallmark of the album.”
Texas-based experimental post-rock collective DRIVING SLOW MOTION will drop their absorbing Arda debut upon the masses on Friday June 7th via Fail Safe Audio. In advance of its release, Heavy Blog Is Heavy is currently offering up an exclusive stream of the record noting, “Arda is one of those albums that manages to take a genre known for its somewhat cookie-cutter tendencies and injects it with so much passion, depth of expression, and style that it scintillates into the night. It’s also possessing of the exact type of wanderlust which is replete in Tolkien’s works, making that nominal connection much deeper and present in the music itself. It creates that wanderlust by preferring deep, echoing tones and sparse composition, setting the backdrop of its ambience alight with post-rock sensibilities. Just check out the opening track, ‘Far From Home.’ The energy is not just in the buildup but in every single note by itself, haunted as they are with ethereal effects, multiple guitar tracks, and clever drum touches.”
The Cincinnati Shoegaze band returns with a collection of songs that roil and break like the sun through dense clouds. This sense of newfound purpose is encapsulated in the album title Soften Forever – which reads as a statement of commitment to one another after seeing themselves through a year of bad breaks, break ups and turmoil writ large. This is most keenly felt on the album opener “Undo”. Soften Forever roars out of the gate with walls of feedback and crashing guitar tones before ebbing into lushly orchestrated and deeply felt compositions that stare down depression and dissolving relationships with as much unflinching honesty as they do moments of immersive wonder and joy – often within the same track.

“We don’t get to die young. Trouble keeping our head sometimes. We just have to push on. We don’t get to give up this life. All the breath in your lungs is stronger than the tears in your eyes. It’s do or die but we’re alive and while we’re here, we’ll hold the line.”
Ra Ra Riot have a new track out that was co-written and produced by Rostam Batmanglij (formerly of Vampire Weekend). “Bad To Worse” amplifies their pop-minded approach with bountiful arrangements.
“I had gone to Italy by myself and wrote it in a small B&B room by the Como Lake. I guess the warm Italian summer air influenced the laid-back feeling of the song,” Nidam says of the track. “I wanted the rhythm section to have this heavy, dark, almost hip-hop-like groove to back up the clean, airy guitars and the smooth vocal melodies.”
Italian Electro-Rock Duo SOAWARE Bring Back 80s Synth and 90s grunge
Soaware’s founders and central songwriters, Damiano Bessi and Emanuele Grazioli, bring groundbreaking alternative rock from Italy to the rest of the world. They first met in 1999 while playing in the band Mad Cobol, later splitting to perform with separate groups. In 2015, the two reunited to form Soaware, retreating to a basement studio to write new music. The fruits of Soaware’s three-year (2015-2018) labor have culminated in their forthcoming self-titled album. Soaware will include 11 tracks which feature the pair on songwriting, instrumentals, and production. Focusing on sheer emotions rather than life experiences, Soaware draw upon the spirits of 90s grunge and 80s synth pop to create dark atmospheres with electronic rock/metal edges.
Tony Harrah’s Facebook bio simply reads: “Honest family man and lover of bourbon and scotch.” It might sound silly if it weren’t so damn true.
The West Virginia-based thirty-eight year old, bearded, single father of three wrestles all that’s best about Americana music past and present into something entirely engaging: a winsome effort that feels and breathes, emoting in every acoustic or electric chord and mildly Springsteen-esque intonation. Focusing his lyrical spotlight often on farmers and blue-collar workers in the American South, Harrah’s visual storylines thread in and out of one another in rich and vigorous detail.

Madonna Releases Powerful Video For “Dark Ballet”
“Dark Ballet” was inspired by the story of Joan of Arc. “She fought the English and she won, still the French were not happy,” Madonna says. “Still they judged her. They said she was a man, they said she was a lesbian, they said she was a witch, and, in the end, they burned her at the stake, and she feared nothing. I admire that.”
