Icelandic duo Hugar sign to Sony Music Masterworks

Comprised of multitalented instrumentalists and musicians Bergur Þórisson and Pétur Jónsson – have forged a musical lane all their own with a genre-defying sound. Combining a shared passion for music and an impressive resume working alongside fellow Icelandic luminaries Björk, Sigur Rós, Ólafur Arnalds and Jóhann Jóhannsson, the longtime friends and natives of Seltjarnarnes began writing music together in 2013. Through a series of impromptu sessions, Bergur and Pétur recorded and released their independent self-titled debut, a sweepingly multi-layered and ethereally ambient album, in 2014.

Ty Herndon Releases New Version of #1 Hit “What Mattered Most”

Grammy-nominated country singer/songwriter Ty Herndon has released a re-recorded version of his 1995 breakthrough hit song “What Mattered Most,” along with a new video. With the pronouns reversed from the original, reframing the subject of Herndon’s affection in the song as another man, this new version of the modern classic ballad reflect’s Herndon’s true self that fans have come to know since he came out in 2014. The track and video were released on June 4th in honor of Pride Month, and premiered with Huffpost who writes “Ty Herndon is kicking off LGBTQ Pride Month by giving one of his most beloved hits a fresh, forward-thinking shine.”

“The ‘From Me’ video is built around the improvisations of two dancers, Elijah Laurant and Kya Bliss,” Khushi tells Hypebeast. “They already knew each other and had a special dancing connection. The director, Parsons, and I wanted to give them space to bring their own creative instincts and natural chemistry to the process. They did an incredible job and Parsons, who also used to be a dancer, created an amazingly open, energetic and creative atmosphere on set. It was a madly fun day’s filming and this video is what emerged from that fertile chaos. The energetic shifts in the song are reflected with ever-evolving colour and movement in the video—a treat for the eyes hopefully!”

Walk Off the Earth To Perform @ NBA Finals

The NBA announced today that multi-platinum musical phenomenon Walk Off the Earth will perform the Canadian national anthem live on Friday, June 7 prior to Game 4 of the 2019 NBA Finals. The performance will air at 9 PM EST on ABC and TSN.

Fresh off their headline appearance at Red Rocks Amphitheater, Walk Off the Earth released their new original single “Mike’s Song” last month in honor of their late band member, Mike “Beard Guy” Taylor. The band’s highly anticipated full length album will be released in early October and they are currently in the midst of an extensive world tour, which includes stops at Wembley Arena in London and Vancouver’s Orpheum Theatre.
