Skip Marley, the Island Records reggae prodigy for a new generation, gets a head-start on 4/20 tomorrow, with the release of his new song “That’s Not True” featuring Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley (his uncle, and youngest son of Rasta icon Bob Marley, Skip’s grandfather). “That’s Not True,” is Skip’s first original music release since 2017 and arrives timely the day before 4/20, when he will perform at Kaya Fest in Miami. The new release kicks off a promising new year of amazing music for Skip, starting with a collaboration with Major Lazer due for release next week.

After a decade of putting out albums and touring, Nebraskan singer-songwriter Orion Walsh will release “The Foreigner” EP with Indie Vision Music. Full of fun songs & storytelling, this is truly a mature step forward for this well-traveled troubadour. Walsh has previously released 7 albums with independent labels Sower Records & the Hunter Records, including “The Hitchhiker’s Son” produced by AJ Mogis (Bright Eyes, Cursive). Tim Baker Releases Solo Debut FOREVER OVERHEAD; US Tour Kicks off May 8 in NYC
Today the very deliberate debut solo album from Tim Baker makes its way into the wider world. Forever Overhead (Arts & Crafts) is a blend of piano ballads with ebullient folk-rock tracks. Although the record is brushed with the qualities of 70s singer-songwriters (think Jackson Browne and Randy Newman) Baker drew inspiration from his contemporaries like Feist, Leif Vollebekk, and The Barr Brothers. The resulting organic blend of pop grooves and folk-rock is straightforward with curious undertones that provides a timeless backdrop for Baker’s vibrant lyricism.

Pop Rock Band HAAS Releases New Single “Mama Always Told Me”
Virginia-based pop/rock project HAAS have released their new single, “Mama Always Told Me,” out on all digital music platforms NOW. Just the band’s second single (their debut “Behind Those Eyes” was released in February), HAAS has a clear identity. Approaching the pop/rock genre with confidence, lead vocalist Sam Haas injects the music with heart ache, power,and an authenticity that can’t be mimicked. Although new, HAAS knows their sound (think of a Kelly Clarkson/The Veronicas/Ashlee Simpson modern combo), and takes it on with emotion. “Mama Always Told Me” continues to paves the way for HAAS’ five-track debut EP, due out next month.
This week, SoCal-based, bittersweet gypsy folk blues duo Nathan and Jessie premiered new single on PopMatters who noted the track “sinks into a gypsy sway that wouldn’t feel out of place as the easygoing, unsuspectingly bittersweet b-side to a Django Reinhardt record.”
