Quelle Chris – “Straight Shot”

Quelle Chris joins Cavalier, Bilal Salaam, Grammy Nominated pianist Eldar Djangirov, and comedian James Acaster for the beautiful skyward looking new single “Straight Shot.” The song is the second single from Quelle’s upcoming album Guns (3/29) and offers a swirling dreamscape, a 6 minute vision of better things to come. When Frito Lay has been gourmet for so long and you continue to make and live with nothing but love, because while the bullshit is evident, so to is the glory of all your life’s perfection. Melancholy, down-tempo, reflective, and pregnant with the light of promise, Quelle’s new track Straight Shot plays like a choir being lifted by unseen angels.

Inclusivity is at the heart of Barrie, the Brooklyn five-piece made of Barrie Lindsay, Dominic Apa, Spurge Carter, Sabine Holler and Noah Prebish. And on their debut LP Happy To Be Here, their multidimensional take on classic pop sounds awake and present, like a group that’s daydreaming but firmly there with one another. Lindsay largely wrote these songs late into the night, alone in her apartment, and her voice feels appropriately full of possibility throughout.

From their earliest days as the solo project of frontman Rick Maguire, Pile have followed an unusual path through a decade in which rock bands have generally receded from the cultural spotlight. Starting out in 2007, in the then thriving Boston DIY scene, the band rapidly became heroes and standard-bearers for their hometown’s music community, garnering a cultish-adoration that has only intensified as that cult has grown, expanding by word of mouth along the Eastern seaboard and across the country over 10 years that have seen 6 full length albums and 100s of shows in basements, bars, punk houses and clubs.
