The main constant in NOVARUPTA is Alex Stjernfeldt. In his broken past he has played in bands like The Moth Gatherer and Mr. Death, which both have critical acclaim in the international press. He has also collaborated with Terra Tenebrosa on their album The Reverses. When he left The Moth Gatherer, Stjernfeldt stood disillusioned while facing an uncertain and bleak future. Fueled by depression and frustration and a need to explore a deeper and darker musical direction while also returning to the roots from which he came, the foundation of NOVARUPTA was born.

DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE ANNOUNCE SUMMER HEADLINE TOUR
8x GRAMMY® Award-nominated Atlantic recording group Death Cab for Cutie has announced details of their upcoming summer tour, kicking off June 7th at Pittsburgh, PA’s Stage AE and including stops at such legendary venues as Queens, NY’s Forest Hills Stadium (June 15th) and Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre (June 25th) before culminating in an August 11th finale at Los Angeles, CA’s Hollywood Bowl (see attached itinerary). Support on the tour will come from a variety of special guests including Mitski, Car Seat Headrest, Lala Lala, and Jenny Lewis – who last toured with the band in 2006.

Grammy-award winner Elle Varner kicks off 2019 with a brand, new single, “Pour Me” featuring Wale, and U.S. dates across the country. “Pour Me” was produced by Nascent and Jimmy Varner and features a laid back, R&B groove that has Elle reminiscing about a lost love. “The track is the follow up to her hit 2012 single, “Refill,” and will be featured on her new mixtape to be released this spring. Elle previously released the warm-up single “Loving U Blind,” the heartfelt ballad about avoiding the pitfalls of loving too fast. That single not only showcased her versatility as an artist but her vulnerability as well.

Brasher’s critically acclaimed EP dropped just under a year ago on April 27th, 2018, and she has been working towards debut her full-length with the venerable Oxford, MS, based label ever since, touring incessantly across the country with legendary acts like The Zombies and The Psychedelic Furs. 2019 is no different, following the release of Painted Image Brasher will be heading back out for dates with The Zombies to kick off the year.

AZ enjoyed a relatively quiet 2018. The highly-respected Brooklyn, New York lyricist was the subject of a documentary involving commentary by Rakim, Nas, Pete Rock, and Foxy Brown. He made a few careful appearances, one with early mentor Daddy-O of Stetsasonic and another with Fresno, California’s Planet Asia. However, when it came to solo music, the artist responsible for some iconic verses mainly sat back and watched.
