Oslo-punks Wet Dreams reveal new single ‘Bad Boy’

Wet Dreams were consummated in an Oslo basement, when Death By Unga Bunga frontman Sebastian Ulstad Olsen had conceived a few bastard songs he did not know what to do with. The songs grew into a fast and scruffy EP, released in the summer of 2017 – and now the self-titled debut album is finally here.

Following on from their critically acclaimed UK debut album, Super Natural (previously available in the US on import only), Jim Jones & The Righteous Mind has announced details of the hotly anticipated follow-up, CollectiV. This will be the first time the band’s music has been available in North America.

Released March 8th on Ma§onic Records via Redeye, CollectiV is a veritable sonic feast. Made from only the finest ingredients including rock’n’roll, chain gang chants, mutant soul and gospel, as well as the band’s own heavy lounge, this is the best release yet from singer Jim Jones, whose career has seen him front the legendary bands Thee Hypnotics, Black Moses and The Jim Jones Revue.

Will Sparks and Maddix Team Up For Party-Ready Bounce/Hardstyle Single “Mangalam” on Heavyweight Records

Will Sparks and Maddix deliver a hard-hitting fusion of bounce, hardstyle and tribal rhythms on their new collaboration “Mangalam” for Carnage’s Heavyweight Records. Sparks first became well known as a leader in the Melbourne bounce genre and that influence is clearly heard in “Mangalam”‘s upbeat kick drums, but it’s the layered complexity of intense basslines and a tribal vocal riff that gives the track its name make it a real stand out. This release follows Will’s singles “Tombstone” with SCNDL on Monstercat and “Flakka Flakka” on Armada Music. This is his first collaboration with talented newcomer Maddix, who has worked with Hardwell on collaborative “Smash This Beat” and “Bella Ciao” singles. “Mangalam” is a word that signifies good fortune in Sanskrit, and we’re sure that it will be a self-fulfilling prophecy by firing up dance floors around the globe.

From Lawyer To Rapper, Stormzy-esque Artist Lemzi Is Tackling Social Issues Through Music

Abandoning his plans to become a lawyer after his degree in law and criminology, Lemzi may seem like an unlikely hip-hop talent. Yet his latest album Leki demonstrates that the two paths needn’t be diametrically opposed. In his upcoming album, Leki (released 7.12.2018), he draws upon his academic background to reflect upon a range of social issues and other thought-provoking topics (Brexit, knife crime, gang violence to name a few) in an attempt to galvanise today’s youth. Using the power of music, he takes aim at stereotypes attached to race, postcode and environment, as well as those associated with musical genres that have been maligned by the mainstream press—rap, trap, drill—highlighting the dangers of prejudice and bias. Lemzi’s music is ultra-slick but at the same time introspective and reflective, echoing socially-conscious rappers such as Akala and Stormzy. Leki is a rap album with a conscience.

Global pop singing sensation and 2019 double Grammy nominee Dua Lipa, will co-write and perform a new single, “Swan Song,” for Twentieth Century Fox’s ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL, the epic action-adventure from producers James Cameron and Jon Landau (AVATAR) and director Robert Rodriguez (SIN CITY). The film will be released in the US on February 14.

“From the moment we saw her video for ‘New Rules,’ we knew that Dua Lipa would be the perfect artist to do a song for ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL,” commented Producer Jon Landau. “She has the kick-ass strength, power and attitude in her performances that Alita embodies in the movie. Jim, Robert and I are thrilled to have her onboard and are confident she will make ‘Swan Song’ the perfect inspiring and empowering anthem for our film.”

Fresh off a tour for his latest album release, Ritual Mystik, Zion I drops a new video, ‘Calm Down.’ According to MC Zumbi, the visuals for the track are an indictment on today’s political climate. “Growing up black or brown, we feel like we are being hunted or singled out systematically,” says Zumbi. “We tried to capture that feeling in the video.”

Formed in Seattle, and currently based in London, the trio is led by Ben Todd, a finger picking guitarist who has spent time living in a shack in the New Mexico desert. Alone in the Gila Wilderness, Ben learned how to play old blues and banjo tunes from vintage and traditional recordings.

In Case You Missed It: The Sweet Kill Shares New Single

‘Give it up’, is the power-pop anthem 2018 has been waiting for, and it’s come just in time. The single was released on December 7th, and The Sweet Kill have delivered on a song that swells with emotion and spills over with messages of liberation from one’s inner demons. The meaningful track is built upon the driving drum groove of Darren King (MUTEMATH), which builds to an incessant powerhouse chorus. The end effect is mesmerizing, pulling off both the atmospheric quietus and infectious hooks of Awolnation and MGMT, with the artful dark-wave angst and bulletproof production of Nine Inch Nails and The Cure.
