Jealous of the Birds shares music video for “Marrow”

The video was shot in London at Crystal Palace Park by music video and fashion director Marta Bodacka. Naomi Hamilton, aka Jealous of the Birds, says of the video, “Marta had such a strong vision throughout the whole process and it was fascinating to watch her direct with such focus. Since the song bursts out into these musically expansive moments, I really wanted the video to mirror that sense of open space and amplification. Marta had this idea to use drones to capture aerial shots in different locations in the park and to include interpretive dance by the insanely talented Naomi Weijand. I’d never been there before, but it turned out to be this strange Victorian park with a maze, Dinosaur Island and random Sphinx statues left over from the Crystal Palace Exhibition building which got burned down in the 1930s.”

Debt Neglector (Smartpunk) Cover The Clash

“We decided to cover this song for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the Clash rip. They have always stuck out to me as the “right way” to do punk rock. None of this “punk is meant to be offensive” trash. It’s socially conscious. Joe Strummer was smart and he spoke for the less fortunate and you could tell that his heart was really behind it. He’s one of those larger than life characters that only come around once or twice in a generation. Secondly, the song is great and I think has aged really well to represent what’s going on in America today. It deals with violence and the constant outpouring of bad news that we’ve come to expect from our country. It can be desensitizing watching all the stories unfold day after day of another shooting or another hate crime. It would be nice to have something to be excited about in the upcoming midterms, but for now we’re just exhausted by all the bad news.” – Alex

Parsons has been at the forefront of the indie-folk movement in New Zealand, forging her own path as an independent, self-managed artist. Coming off the new album Glass Heart, “Just ‘Cause You Don’t Want Me” is a break-up song that cuts through with hard-hitting lyrics but deceptive sonic simplicity, reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac.
