New Orleans-based Grosser shares the lead single “On Go” off his debut LP C, due out August 10, 2018. Grosser spoke to Highsnobiety about the track saying, “When I am stuck in a low place, I find myself writing music that fits the mood of the moment. VALLENS share new single “Occurred” via Noisey

Once toted as “a band you need to listen to” by BUST Magazine, Vallens are an undefinable quartet drawing from Abba, This Mortal Coil, film, and more influences than one would expect of their vexing and fervid sound.

“Hard to pin dwn, their chorus-friendly sounds invoke UK bands like Lush, while their noisey breakdowns are more akin to Sister-era Sonic Youth. Vocalist/Guitarist Robyn Phillips has that rare-quality voice that sticks in your head, like the early works of Sinead O’Connor.” – Live in Limbo

ALWAYS LOVE, THE SOPHOMORE ALBUM FROM GUAM’S FOR PEACE BAND TO BE RELEASED JULY 27 ON ROOTFIRE COOPERATIVE

For Peace Band is proud to announce Always Love, their sophomore album due out on July 27, 2018 on the Rootfire Cooperative imprint. Formed in 2012 and hailing from the mighty island of Guam, For Peace Band is Ronald “RJ” Pereira (Guitar/Vocals), Freddy Bordallo (Drums/Vocals), Jacob Iosa(Keys/Vocals), and Danton Cruz (Bass/Vocals). They quickly gained prominence at home, winning the 2014 Island Music Awards for Best Original Song, and 2015 Island Music Awards for Best Reggae Band.

While the local reggae scene in Guam is thriving very few bands ever make it off the island because the cost is so prohibitive. As the only band from the island who is starting to make regular trips to North America, For Peace Band has overcome massive obstacles just to be here. On their first tours in North America, keyboardist and vocalist Jacob Iosa reflects “It was exciting to hear people sing our lyrics. That connection changed our whole lives and is probably the reason why we keep coming back. The fans are truly awesome, and everyone we have worked with from the production teams to the bands are all next level.”

Liam Singer premieres video for Test Tone via PopMatters

PopMatters has just premiered chamber pop experimentalist Liam Singer’s video for “Test Tone,” the synth-driven new single off Singer’s fifth full-length album Finish Him, out 7/13 on Birdwatcher. Watch the video here. “I like over-the-top expressions of emotion,” says Singer. “Scott Solter [the album’s producer [who has worked with the Mountain Goats, Erik Friedlander] likes to invoke Edward Gorey and the Brothers Quay when we’re recording. There’s a sense of playfulness and high drama at the same time.”

Fittingly, the “Test Tone” video, a campy journey into ’80s VHS b-movie sci fi visuals underscored by experimental dance and a serious message about miscommunication and disconnection. PopMatters praised the song as “a haunting and haunted examination of miscommunication and disconnect within relationships.”
