GLOSSE ‘We Got Heat’ – New Music

‘We Got Heat’ marks the debut release of electropop troupe GLOSSE. A provocative, brooding track about commitment and fidelity, ‘We Got Heat’ evokes a sense of danger and disobedience from the offset. The song presents itself as a showdown and is a twisted, wry look at the idea of obsession and relationships. It seems the protagonist cannot resist someone they know is harmful. There’s a sense of addiction to the excessive, hedonistic love they share; with calls for “fire” and “glamour” and the yearning admission that “what I need is what you give”.

LYLA FOY debuts first single

From Lyla….

This is Far Behind You, the first single from my new record. It’s about chasing a dream that never happens: an ode to that mission. If creative frustration makes you feel trapped or tiny – keep chasing – or at least write about it.

After finishing the track, I wanted to see if I could get another voice in there with mine, ideally that of Jonathan Donahue from Mercury Rev. I managed to get an introduction via email and very quickly he replied complimenting me on the song and agreeing to get in the driver’s seat to record his parts. There was nothing about the way he sung my words that emulated me, it simply became him.

Patrick Wimberly (Chairlift, Solange, MGMT) mixed the single and completely brought it to life with a whole new intensity.

So here’s this weird little pop song. Hope you like it!

video: SUBSTANCE ABUSE, “BRIDGES”

“Subz came up with the idea for ‘Bridges’ because he felt we needed to do a song about unity in these increasingly divisive times we’re in,” Eso says. “We couldn’t think of a better emcee than Aceyalone to bring on board, as he has a special talent for creating dope songs built off of a single metaphor. Our goal was to create something in the tradition of our heroes The Native Tongues, a track that was jazzy, positive, and upbeat but with a message that the modern audiences could relate to.”
