SURMISER: No Echo Premieres “ESF” By Upstate New York Punk/Grunge Trio

“‘ESF’, or Expensive Swedish Furnishings, is a song about being so fucking bored that you go crosseyed and into a hallucination daydream,” offers SURMISER guitarist/vocalist Jay Andersen of the new single. “The being ‘stuck in the couch again’ part is a call to the cover of a Dinosaur Jr. record where it appears a couch is eating a human. It literally spawned from the most boring weekend in history, where I was seemingly unable to escape an overpriced IKEA you-build-it sofa. ‘All my friends are in my head’ is a play off of Nirvana’s ‘Lithium,’ except I couldn’t get ahold of any friends whereas Cobain found his….”

Americana single from Tucson’s Rebekah Rolland “Standing Still”

“If the Americana world still has room for another breakout star in 2018, Rolland may just be it, bringing a heartfelt thoughtfulness to her music that evokes shades of such artists as Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O’Donovan.” —Jonathan Frahm, For Folk’s Sake

“Standing Still” was inspired by the character Ántonia from feminist literary figure Willa Cather’s novel, My Ántonia. With an honest, homespun warmth, the song talks about the way in which certain people, places and experiences are pressed deep into memory – which can shape the entire course of a life.

Bishop Gunn’s debut album Natchez enters #4 on Billboard Blues Chart and #8 Heatseekers South Central

Natchez, the debut album from emerging rock band Bishop Gunn, enters the Billboard Blues Chart at #4 and #8 on Heatseekers South Central. Natchez (named after the band’s hometown in Mississippi) is out now on Farm2Turntable and is receiving widespread critical acclaim—Rolling Stone Country is featuring the band among their “Artists You Need to Know,” asserting, “Anyone can cite the Muscle Shoals sound as an influence, but few acts can actually pull off making music worthy of such a claim. Nashville band Bishop Gunn is one of those acts…The resulting music is the perfect blend of Nashville and the Shoals, and is the rare album that builds upon its influences rather than resorting to outright mimicry.” Furthermore, AXS praises the music as “a blend of rock, soul, and blues that is sure to appeal to fans of 70s rock. This is an album that is best enjoyed as loud as you can stand it.”

PRIMITIVE MAN: Denver Doom Practitioners To Kick Off Spring Headlining Tour

The road warriors in PRIMITIVE MAN continue to tour in support of their nihilistic Caustic full-length issued via Relapse Records. Captured at Flatline Audio by Dave Otero (Cobalt, Cephalic Carnage, Cattle Decapitation et al), the record delivers over seventy-five minutes of bloodcurdling howls, abysmal tones, and dense, unsettling feedback, spewing forth a cesspool of utter misery. With lyrical themes ranging from political corruption, personal struggle, and the crumbling social climate facing the world today, Caustic serves as a cataclysmic soundtrack for a world gone awry.

Having already gained over 5 million streams and with features from the likes of Rolling Stone (three times!) and an appearance at Elle’s 2017 fashion show Steele is surely set to soar.

Beach Skulls return with their sophomore album, Las Dunas!

When Beach Skulls named their first record Slow Grind, they meant it. It took them the best part of five years to find the right lineup and the right label, with singer-guitarist Ry Vieira and drummer Jordan Finney only signing to PNKSLM after a trip to Berlin united them with a long-sought bassist in Dan West. Vieira and Finney, old friends from college, formed the band in their native Widnes over a shared love of Dick Dale and, eventually, the surf-rock stylings of early Beach Skulls gave way to the chiming guitars and sunny melodies that defined their debut LP.

BOILER ROOM & PRESIDENTE BEER PRESENT “MAS FUERTE”

The Dominican Republic is an island powered by music. Its rich sounds reach around the globe. In New York City, the Dominican community brings the vibrancy of their culture to the streets of NYC in a bold and unapologetic way. Más Fuerte, a film by Sean Frank, uncovers a scene of underground “musicologists” in NYC & the DR through their custom sound vehicles. They manage to keep their culture alive, despite their often restrictive environments. From get-togethers at Santo Domingo gas stations to gatherings at secret spots across NYC boroughs, the film follows as they battle one another with the ear-shattering bass of their sound systems, living life at maximum volume, everywhere they go. As they say, Es ritmo, no ruido. It’s rhythm, not noise.

SHAED Announces “Melt” EP – Out 7/27 + Premieres Single “Trampoline” w/ Ones To Watch

Electro-pop trio SHAED has just given fans their first new treat of the year. As we approach the July 27 release date of their upcoming EP Melt, Ones to Watch is excited to premiere their new single “Trampoline,” allowing for a glimpse into what their sophomore project should entail.

Comprised of twin brothers Spencer and Max Ernst, as well as Chelsea Lee who is engaged to the former sibling, SHAED is a tightly knit-group that unsurprisingly radiates sonic chemistry on “Trampoline.” Lee’s vocals ascend over the brooding instrumental until casually dropping off on the chorus, as pulsating synths propel the song forward. After turning heads with their debut EP Just Wanna See, “Trampoline” is proof that the group has no plans of slowing down, and little reason to do so.

Santa Barbara’s Sanderlings Debut New Video

Locke tells Big Takeover, “This song has a life imitates art imitates life again backstory. The story of the song is about my partner and I getting arrested on our first date. We jumped into an unmarked police car because, you know, it sounded fun, and it turns out that’s a bad idea. We spent the night in the tank for disorderly conduct. Fast forward to making the music video, and I almost got busted again! I work at a theater, and I thought it would be rad to use the set I had worked so hard to build as a location to shoot our story. I’m an ‘ask forgiveness not permission’ kind of person, so I may have neglected to tell anyone in the management I would be there. Around 1AM, an officer of the peace showed up and grilled us on what we were doing. Being a small town, he knew everyone I worked for and was not entirely sold on my story. We managed to convince him to leave us alone long enough to finish, but let’s just say the following Monday was a REAL FUN MORNING.”

Hornwood Fell: looking for a label (Black Metal)

Italy’s black metal unit Hornwood Fell are looking for a label to release their current “Inferus” EP in physical format and/or future records. The band has released “Inferus” digitally only. If you happen to be interested let me know.

Hornwood Fell was formed in 2014 with the aim of performing second wave Norwegian-inspired Black Metal music. Their first self-titled album, released by Avantgrade Music, a well-known music label of this genre, was inspired by bands such as: Ulver, Darkthrone and Kvist. In the second album “Yheri” the band’s line-up changed when the bassist Andrea Vacca left the band. So the band which was originally a trio became a “duo” made up of the twin Basili brothers and in “Yheri” the bass guitar was played by Marco Basili. The second album is a concept one and the band enriched their sound by incorporating psychedelic elements maintaining a strong Nordic Black Metal influence combined with clean vocals. The album was released in 2015 by Avantgarde Music. On the 7th of November 2017, the third album “My Body My Time” was released once again by the well-known Italian label which differed greatly from its predecessors: it is the boldest and most emblematic album which touches unexplored Black Metal territories.
