Bonny Doon shares “A Lotta Things” music video and US tour dates

Arriving in the early months of 2017, Bonny Doon’s self-titled debut was a warm introduction to the band for many. Hazy and bright, the album’s woozy melodies and swirling webs of summery guitar textures were easily ingested as low-key slacker pop, blissfully awash in lo-fi sensibilities and dreamy ambiance. But the nonchalant breeziness belied a serious attention to songcraft that beckoned careful listening, and hinted at depths yet unexplored. Lo and behold, before the ink was even dry on the first record, work had already begun on its follow-up Longwave, a conscious about-face from the sonic experimentation of the first album, and a journey inward.

Partway through the song, you can hear the sounds of a bicycle, which belonged to the deceased childhood friend of vocalist and sole composer Adam Petersen. As such, it’s one of the most intimate and introspective tracks on the album, and the video offers an almost therapeutic accompaniment.

PREP ‘Snake Oil’

‘Snake Oil’ is the latest track lifted from PREP’s new EP ‘Cold Fire’ (out now), featuring guest vocals from recent Kitsuné signing Reva DeVito.

The ruminative new clip for the track – made by a Korean production team – taps into frontman Tom Havelock’s cautionary lyrics. Says director Jiwoon Kwon; “We wanted to illustrate the idea of a person being bothered by memories that the happiness of the past and the pain of the present co-exist. The ‘snake oil’ that is expressed here as water forces our character to retreat into his inner-side, becoming trapped within a Möbius strip. It’s hard to escape from these memories – but the choice is either being trapped by it or escaping from that.”
