EL DUSTY AND BOOGAT TURN HEADS WITH ‘LA CUMBIA’ MUSIC VIDEO

Crafting irresistible rhythms and an unparalleled talent for updating cumbia classics with dancefloor-ready swagger are two of El Dusty’s strongest suits. Add Canadian-Mexican artist Boogat to the mix and you have a recipe for one fierce musical number. The two linked up and began collaborating on the track over the internet, finally putting the finishing touches on it when Boogat visited Corpus to play Tropicoso. The official music video was also filmed there during last year’s Dia de Los Muertos Festival. Blending Boogat’s reggaeton-meets-cumbia-meets-hip hop roots with El Dusty’s bass-forward vibes, “La Cumbia” is a hot new single that will have you amped for the summer party season in no time.

BLACK MARE Releases Split With Offret Via Dark Operative

Titled Alone Among Mirrors, BLACK MARE’s “Woman The Throne” occupies side A. Bleak, cold opening riffs chip against the previous silence like hammered chisel into centuries-old slabs of ice before opening up just before the two-minute mark, eventually revealing the cavernous domain of sonic textures beneath the dense exoskeleton. This track was conceived, written, and recorded around the sessions that produced the band’s recently issued Death Magick Mother full-length album. “Woman The Throne” was written and recorded by Sera Timms and mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound.

First Squirrel Nut Zippers Album In 18 Years Out Today!

Beasts Of Burgundy is twelve original new songs from the mind of Jimbo Mathus and the Squirrel Nut Zippers. It’s also the first new Squirrel Nut Zippers album in 18 years which is out today. Inspired by the city of New Orleans, the poet Ron Cuccia, and a disregard for convention.

A return to form, the album embraces the city that first inspired the group. Enlisting Mike Napolitano – who recorded all the bands previous albums – was a magical first step in the process. “Nappys Dugout”, located in the Marigny, resembled the original style and feel of Kingsway, the now gone studio where the Zippers recorded much of their catalog. The Dugout, located in the home of Mike Napolitano and Ani DiFranco, created the perfect environment to inspire the original feeling that so excited Mathus at the very beginning of the Zippers long career.

Melodious Ohio Riser Fijimacintosh Shares Candy-Coated Satellite Crash Project

“NoirIllusions and Fijimacintosh’s “Glock Box” has a playful immediacy uncommon to such low-profile artists, but its cheeriness has an addictiveness that’s tough to deny. The track does a neat trick of giving a song about packing weapons, fucking all night, and foreign cars—rap toolkit shit—an effervescent tone. It’s executed economically, and with a shamelessness that suggests this won’t be the duo’s first visit to these pages.” – Complex

Baloji Shares Video For “Peau de Chagrin / Bleu de Nuit”

Shot in the Lusanga region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Baloji spoke to Dazed about the concept behind the video: “It is based on Congolese wedding tradition where a couple stands in front of a vegetal installation, a Pygmy tradition. It’s a place where you stand and receive presents from family and friends. Some of the most common presents you receive are plastic flowers, plastic bags of rice, or even a goat. And then if you stand there on your own, it means something happened – your partner changed their mind or something went wrong.”
