Brooklyn rockers NO ICE share multi-tiered video for “We Get High Together”

“This project was a collaboration with our good friend Joe Wakeman, who plays in the Brooklyn band Toyzanne, but is also an accomplished Auteur filmmaker. I loved his full-length film, They Read By Night. He loved our song “We Get High Together”, and he came up with the concept of his parents taking medicinal marijuana and watching Classic Movies starring nice. Chaplin is one of my great heroes and I had always wanted to do a tribute to him, and Joe came up with the insane Swashbuckler film for Jesse, Gwynn and Sam and the surreal, boring Cowboy film for Sean and Jordan.

Some songs just don’t get old. “You Don’t Own Me,” emblazoned in our hearts by Lesley Gore in 1963, remains as compelling an anthem of empowerment as ever in 2018. Enter Whitney Rose, a ‘spitfire’ songwriter who has made Austin, Texas her home. In Whitney Rose’s hands, ‘You Don’t Own Me,’ is a scorching country noir takedown of all the unsolicited opinions, insidious (or totally blatant) sexism and baked-in assumptions about a woman’s lack of autonomy in the music business and beyond.

An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. “One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego. “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. “This same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.” The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The old chief simply replied, “The one you feed.”
