Ricardo Bacelar crafts a masterful celebration of Latin American music
Last July, pianist-composer-arranger Ricardo Bacelar jetted from his home in Brazil to Miami, the place he calls “the center of Latin music in the world,” where he gathered an ensemble of Latin American musicians to honor the roots of Brazilian music while incorporating each musician’s unique culture on a jazz-centered album. An ambitious vision that he conceived with an international view with the project’s producer, Cesar Lemos (Ricky Martin, Paulina Rubio), the 15-track “Sebastiana” drops March 30 from Bacelar Productions. Preceding the sprawling set list of hallmark Brazilian reinterpretations and originals written or co-written by Bacelar is the ethereal “Nothing Will Be As It Was,” featuring two Americans – vocalist Maye Osorio and pedal steel guitarist Steve Hinson – on the multi-format crossover radio single portrayed in a striking animated video

Frontman Reid Bateh, drummer Blaze Bateh, and bassist William Brookshire have always been adept students of noise rock and post-punk, mining the work of bands like Swans and The Birthday Party to construct what NPR called their “beautifully dynamic nightmares.” Now, they’ve transcended their early influences to produce a Western Gothic concept album that sounds as big as the desert sky looming over its characters’ lives.

Tom Misch unveils “Water Baby” video
Tom Misch has become a coveted producer and beat-maker, after being discovered at the age of 16 by one of the founders of Soulection, and with his debut album, Geography out 4/6, he cements his place as one of the smoothest new voices in music. Today he shares the official video, directed by Georgia Hudson (Jorja Smith, Glass Animals, MØ) for ” Water Baby”, featuring him and UK rapper Loyle Carner, navigating some icy terrain. As NPR mentions, “… against jazzy, horn-heavy production, the vocalist and producer sings of swimming through all-too-relatable struggles: from loneliness and coffee scalds to missed chances and missed Ubers.”
Tom Misch will tour the US this Spring (NYC and many cities already sold out on only his second tour here) + both weekends @ Coachella.

“We actually found the title from a verse in the Bible. ‘Nahum 3:17 Your guardsmen swarm like locusts, your officials swarm like locusts that settle in the walls on a cold day. But the locusts that fly away when the sun comes up, all of them will fly away and disappear.’
