Kat Edmonson’s “Old Fashioned Gal” out April 27

Songwriter and vocalist Kat Edmonson’s fourth album, Old Fashioned Gal, is set for release April 27 on Spinnerette Records. NPR Music’s “Songs We Love” premiered the title track, noting, “Edmonson is astute with her references, and canny about the flirtation at the center of the song.” NPR goes on to describe the upcoming LP saying “The album is a handsome showcase for her songwriting, which has grown ever more confident over the last decade, nostalgic in tone but clear-eyed in the application.”

BATUSHKA: Polish Black Metal Legion To Kick Off European Pilgrimage Part III Tour

Polish black metal legion BATUSHKA will kick off a nearly three-week long European tour later this week. The European Pilgrimage Part III journey will commence January 10th in Tilburg, Netherlands and march its way through eighteen venues, coming to a close on January 27th in Rijssen, Netherlands. Support will be provided by avant black metallers Schammasch and ritualistic death industrial outfit Trepaneringsritualen.

Calligraphist – ‘Crossroads’

Calligraphist is a Bulgarian artist based in Manchester, UK. He is primarily known for his lyricism and presence in the Underground Hip-Hop scene. Winner of Kool G Rap’s emcee competition at age 20.

After receiving acclaim from the likes of i-D, The Independent and 1XTRA as producer and vocalist of HALFBROTHER, SCALLY is back after his solo debut BOY with a new cut produced by famed producer HNNY titled; MRZ (honest).

On the track, SCALLY reveals “the song was recorded in an old hearing loss centre test lab that was in the basement of this building. The soundproofing was dead good course, but it felt like an interrogation room. Nothing was coming in or out, so we had to make that happen ourselves I guess.”

The new Americana single from Jodee Lewis, “Buzzard’s Bluff” is a cathartic release from deep within the Missouri Ozarks. The natural lush landscapes are home to beautiful views, but just like the numerous birds of prey, a dark secret is always circling. Americana duo Surrender Hill to release new album on February 2nd

Sedona, AZ-based Americana duo Surrender Hill (husband and wife team Robin Dean Salmon and Afton Seekins) is set to release its third album, Tore Down Fences, on February 2, 2018. A roots-rock album filled with guitars, harmonized vocals, organ, and the occasional burst of pedal steel, Tore Down Fences pushes Surrender Hill into harder, grittier territory. Together, the songs paint the picture not only of a band that’s reached its creative peak, but a relationship that’s built on trust, twang, and creative chemistry. All 13 songs on the album were tracked in two days, with Salmon producing the sessions in a Nashville recording studio.

Born Ruffians premiere “Miss You” via DIY Magazine

Frontman Luke Lalonde explains the song’s genesis, “I found this old voice memo on my phone from 2015 called ‘I miss you so much baby.’ It was just the chorus of ‘Miss You’ with vocal and piano, very early ’60s vibe. I guess I just heard it on the right night when I had a guitar at hand and the rest of the song came very quickly.” Lalonde continues, “I think the narrator is a mix of pure ego and emotional suffering. He thinks the people walking by him on the sidewalk actually care about him, or are paying attention to him. This guy is sort of full of himself but he’s proud of his pain and his longing, he feels like it elevates him somehow and he wants to show it off.”

The band took an unconventional route, working with director Daniel Carberry (Skylar Grey, Jon Bellion, R3HAB) to capture the steadfast love of a grandfather for his granddaughter. The video evokes the innocence of early childhood giving way to the tumultuous coming-of-age years, coupling it with a metaphor on how personal relationships can also have an impact on our world.

Coming into 2018, one name continues to pop up in cross-genre respected publications from NPR to The New York Times to The Los Angeles Times: Ashley McBryde.

Legendary singer/songwriter James Taylor & His All-Star Band announced tour dates for 2018 today with special guest Bonnie Raitt. Taylor and Raitt’s highly acclaimed summer tour played to sold-out crowds across the US last summer and celebrated their decades-long friendship. This year’s tour kicks off at the Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, FL on May 8th and travels to major cities and venues, including the famed Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles for two back-to-back shows on May 31st and June 1st. The Men announce new LP “Drift”

Award-winning British rock band Royal Blood have returned to the top of the Rock Airplay chart with their single “I Only Lie When I Love You”, making it the first chart-topper of 2018 at the format. It marks the band’s third No. 1 on the chart and 5th trip to the Top 5, solidifying Royal Blood’s reign at rock radio.

Royal Blood’s latest album How Did We Get So Dark? was released last June on Warner Bros. Records and debuted at No. 1 in the U.K. The album has accumulated more than 30 million streams to date across Apple Music and Spotify and sold more than 250,000 copies globally.

Picking up plenty of love from blogs and Spotify for last year’s self-produced and self-released tracks “Carousel”, “Nicholas” and “Teething Powder”, he highlighted an uncanny ability to draw on his own experiences, creating an intriguing catalogue of songs.

Chris Robinson Announces ‘As The Crow Flies’

Chris Robinson has songs he wants to sing. As frontman for The Black Crowes—one of the most prolific and celebrated rock ‘n’ roll bands of its generation—he co-wrote classics like “Jealous Again,” “Remedy,” “She Talks To Angels,” “Twice As Hard” and “Sometimes Salvation.” With a desire to breathe new life into this storied repertoire, Robinson has gathered five musicians whose musical journeys intertwine with his own, including guitarists Marcus King and Audley Freed, keyboardist Adam MacDougall, bassist Andy Hess and drummer Tony Leone. Appropriately calling the band, As The Crow Flies, they’ll perform shows consisting of music from throughout Robinson’s history at a handful of select U.S. dates in Spring 2018, while in-between tours with his primary outfit, the Chris Robinson Brotherhood.

NPR Music premiered the track’s accompanying music video, directed by Alex Cook and “shot beautifully in black and white.” The video follows two caretakers as they sacrificially tend to a small group of patients. Cook says, “The idea for the video was born from the track’s unnerving beat and deceptive undertones. The story takes place in an alternate, dystopian time in which people transfer their negative memories to one another through a mysterious machine.”

The music of Berry is a strange animal. But writing and recording over 100 songs in their 15 years together has resulted in some dense, delicate, graceful pop songs with a certain Searching for Bobby Fischer mentality.

Snails & Space Laces drop high-octane “Break It Down” video

Snails and Space Laces have released the action-packed music video for their collaborative track “Break It Down”, out now via OWSLA. This video concludes the action movie storyline conceived by Spanish filmmaker Ernest Desumbila, first revealed in Snails and Botnek’s video for “Waffle House”.
