Giselle is perhaps most notable for her FX-featured comedic viral hit which collectively garnered nearly half a million views on YouTube. On the contrary, not ready to grow up signifies the singer’s evolution, breaking away to create her own image with her most honest and vulnerable music to date.

“When you look at the way we as a society idolize youthfulness as this perceived goal of beauty and perfection, and look past the true beauty of wisdom and substance, it’s actually quite disturbing,” Giselle says of ‘Child Idols’. “The concept came to me when I went to Los Angeles with a friend of mine who’s in the beauty industry, and there were these teenagers modeling women’s clothing and promoting all these products aimed at women. It dawned on me these aren’t women; they’re kids… It just didn’t sit right with me, that they were using these young teenagers to represent adults,” she continues. “It’s something our culture sees far too often, and it compelled me to write ‘Child Idols’. It just seems to be an endless cycle that promotes insecurity and provides a falsified view of women, and it needs to change.”
