Brandon James the Native of Chicago’s Terrain

Brandon James an R&B artist native to Chicago, has become a household namesake within his area. Taking his sights set to high on breaking into the main stream music scene with not one but two releases for this year. Brandon has already released “The Divine Collection” with a follow-up in the works set for release this fall of this year. He has since taken the time to discuss his progress with the new music he has been so hard at work on, since work is all he ever does in his life.

NP: Where did you get the idea of using your own name, did you plan it or did it come out just like that?

I was actually talking to someone and they asked what my middle name is. I told them “Brandon James” and he said that’s it that’s who you are!

NP: Why did you want to play this genre?

R&B/Soul has been a part of my family and my culture since I can remember. I feel like it organically comes from my soul.

NP: Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life experience mostly. I try to channel my thoughts, feelings, and emotions to my music to create a genuine experience.

NP: What would you say your music is truly about and why go with that topic of choice?

Love, passion, inspiration… These are things that motivate or even disappoint me.. Again that honest experience is best.

NP: “The Divine Collection” was the first of two other releases that are due out this year. Well those other releases keep the collection going with such possible titles as “The Divine Collection II” “The Divine Collection III” or not aiming for that type of series?

The “Divine Collection” is a project that sums up and wraps up a chapter of music in my life and now that it’s out I feel like it breathes new life into my current music but gives me leeway to move on to other songs.

NP: Do you think you will likely self-title this next set of releases, calling one “Brandon” and the other “James”? There’s an idea since it is two releases after all.

Lol not sure yet but I am working on the theme and title of the new release now. I would like to move forward and give my new music its own identity.

NP: How many tracks will be on either of these two releases, can you give us a rough estimate?

Not sure it will definitely be a surprise for me and all listeners.

NP: Who is producing the album? How has the producer aided the recording process?

Working with a few right now actually.

NP: Where are you recording the album?

Two different studios one north and one south.

NP: Will these next set of releases be a set of albums or EPs?

Not sure yet.

NP: How would you describe the overall sound of the new album? How does it compare to “The Divine Collection”?

Vocalization, passionate, and honesty.

NP: Are you using any new instrumentation you’ve never used in the recording process before?

Yes there will be lots!

NP: Did you have any definitive goals you were shooting for before the recording process began for this album?

Not really, I have just been ready to create music, it is honesty put into making the music that is mine.

NP: When did you start writing for this album?

Almost right away I’m always working.

NP: “The Divine Collection” was a success. Do you feel any pressure to follow it up?

I actually haven’t felt that way but I know more is expected now.

NP: How is the vibe in the studio?

Focused, peaceful, and creative.

NP: When can we expect the new album to be released?

In the fall of this year in September.

NP: Lastly, can you send a message to your fans on what you have planned for the rest of this year?

To release more new music for all to hear!
