With Dream Dream Secret Colours continues to craft a sound that reaches far beyond the city limits of their hometown of Chicago, IL. After heading back to Dripping Springs, TX and recording their fourth full length LP at Dandy Sounds Studios with engineer/producer Dan Duzsynski, Dream Dream relishes on the current level of the demand on society to rely on their screens, devices, and multi-media influence. Dream Dream takes its musical cues from indie, pop, psychedelia, and garage rock, captivating listeners through a myriad of melodies that make up Secret Colours signature sound. Songs like “Changes in Nature” and “Pins and Needles” are homages to their influences while “Feed the Machine” delivers a pounding vibe of bass with an attitude of 70’s London.
Los Angeles-based Prince Fox teams up with actress/singer Bella Thorne on the uninhibited single “Just Call,” premiered on NYLON. Intermingling future bass with smooth, sultry vocals, this harmonious duet soars like a danceable pop song, but bites back with grit.
The London trio made a name for themselves last year with their icy, cinematic take on electronic music for ‘Dialectik – a debut album that saw them gain praise & support from the likes of Spin, Q Magazine, The 405, The Guardian, Giles Peterson, BBC 6 Music and more.
Lyrically dark and musically complex, Fassine’s sound has a hint of Trent Reznor’s influence and sits alongside the cinematic, lyrical qualities of UNKLE and the minimalistic bend of Berlin-era Bowie. Their aesthetic encompasses the oppressive, cold and austere atmosphere of 1970’s and 80’s British TV drama and dares the listener to enter the group’s stark, cold world.

In his most ambitious work yet, Hart has crafted a score that is both astral in sound and cosmic in scope, making the overwhelming fear of eternity feel a little more manageable. Following the reflective, yearning piece “The Secret In the Wall” that surfaced last month, the breathy, synth-driven cut “Safe Safe Safe” premieres via The Playlist and is good example of the death of Hart’s score.

While the music of the single is ready to take the dance floors of the world by storm, vocalist Mychael Ghost’s lyrics float eerily over the track, letting the music guide your body while the words speak to the soul. “The Girl Who Tried” is a track heavily inspired by the New Wave dance movement, it’s sound being noticeably influenced by acts such as Depeche Mode and New Order.
