J Bengoy Single “So Good (I Could Die)”

J Bengoy came together late in the summer of 2016 in Burlington, VT. They practiced quietly in a third-floor bedroom for a few months while bonding over a mutual love of seltzer. In early 2017, they moved operations to Burlington’s South End arts district, where they didn’t have to be so quiet.

YACHTY THE TARGET OF INFRINGEMENT ACCUSATIONS FOR “PEEK A BOO”

A copyright infringement was filed just over a week ago naming Lil Yachty and collaborating artists, Migos, for their blockbuster hit, “Peek A Boo.”. The accusation is that the artists copied independent Memphis rapper’s hook and verse from a song entitled “Pikachue Peekaboo” that Memphis released last year.

“The infringement occurs at several places within the lnfringing Work – directly lifting both the Original Work’s verse and hook (masked by a lyric and tempo change) – without permission.” the document states.

NPR’s First Listen Premieres ALA.NI’s Debut Album ‘You & I’

On June 9, the British-born, Paris-based artist ALA.NI will release her debut album You & I through Missing Piece Records. Today, the album premiered in its entirety via NPR Music’s First Listen series. Bob Boilen stated, “You won’t hear another record that sounds like this one this year, or dare I say this decade.”

Respected as a Godfather-like figure in the streets of Baton Rouge, Mista Cain specializes in honest, slick, Southern-fried rap music. Locking into the snare drums with a metronomic flow, Mista Cain explains on “Strangers” why he doesn’t need new friends: “Every mornin’ I’m up early homie, every hour count/I do this for all my patnas selling every powdered ounce/in prison in the system where it’s easy to get lost/n*gga fuck your dead homie if you see me first, get off.” Joined for an excellent first verse and a shared hook from Nashville Step Brother Starlito, Mista Cain explains that he rap game is a hustle–a vehicle to make a good living rather than a one-way ticket to fame. ARCADE FIRE: “EVERYTHING NOW”

Having performed the song live for the first time at a surprise show in Barcelona, Arcade Fire has now released “Everything Now,” the title track from the band’s fifth album due out July 28th.

The new album is Arcade Fire’s first release under its new partnership with the global media and e-commerce platform Everything Now in synergy with the Sony Corporation.

Ms. White Shares “Full Grown” Track via Impose

Ms. White is a NYC-based jazz-pop artist documenting her medical transition through music. Her debut EP “Jade” is a critique of the male-centric music industry and a fierce declaration of womanhood. “Full Grown” is the debut single from this upcoming release. Originally one half of electronic-pop duo Governors, Ms. White embarked on her solo project beginning in early 2015 with her producer and friend Theodore. Her creative process with Jade was inextricably linked to her gender identity and vice versa and she hopes to pave a path for more trans visibility in the music industry. Jade was named after Amy Jade Winehouse, Ms. White’s biggest musical influence and the title track is an homage to the late singer.

David Barbe (Sugar, Deerhunter, Drive-By Truckers) announces first new record in 7 years

10th of Seas, David Barbe’s third solo album, and first new album in seven years, will be released on August 18, 2017 on Orange Twin Records. Barbe has been referred to as having the most widespread influence of any single person in the Athens, GA music scene due to his involvement with so many different artists and projects over the years, from his start playing with noise damaged groups like Mercyland, Bar-B-Q Killers, and Buzz Hungry in the 1980s and ’90’s; to his stint as bassist in Sugar (Bob Mould’s legendary post-Husker Du band), with whom he toured the globe many times and released three classic records; to his work as an engineer/producer on hundreds of albums, including those by Deerhunter, Drive-By Truckers, The Glands, Son Volt, New Madrid, Bettye LaVette, Harvey Milk and Muuy Biien. Many of these were recorded at his Athens based Chase Park Transduction studio. The album’s first track, “Portuguese Door,” got its premiere yesterday on Consequence of Sound.
