Monterey, CA – The California Roots Music and Arts Festival is excited to announce the food and craft vendor lineup for the festival happening on May 26-28, 2017 in Monterey, CA. Now in its eighth year, the festival continues to partner with stellar local food vendors to bring festival goers many dining options including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free choices. The festival will host several craft vendors at the “Art Retreat” zone, sponsored by Integrity Wine, which will be selling clothing, unique artwork, and more. Holy Wars (LA goth-pop) share fierce first singl
The band also has quite a compelling story that informs their work… Leon’s art has always been inspired by the spectre of death and the occult (dating back to her previous band, Sad Robot), but in 2015, she suddenly lost both of her parents within months of each other, plunging her into a grief the likes of which she had never known. She took time off to properly grieve, but then Holy Wars erupted within and her creativity came back and rose from the ashes. Leon re-emerged in early 2017, altered as an artist by her darkest days, and Holy Wars became an extrapolation of the turmoil she felt inside. In turn, Leon had penned Holy Wars’ first collection of songs, a collection of letters set to grief.
Electric Forest’s “Her Forest” Initiative Announces Performers
Today, Electric Forest (EF) announced the lineup of performers confirmed to participate in the festival’s first ever “Her Forest” Curated Event for the seventh annual music and camping festival in Rothbury, Michigan, over two distinct weekends – June 22–June 25 and June 29–July 2. The announcement marks a new offering by EF’s one-of-a-kind “Her Forest” program, the most comprehensive initiative of its kind at any music festival. Launched last year as a platform for the Electric Forest community to nurture a culture of connection and empowerment.

Richard Edwards Releases Video for “Moonwrapped”
In late March, Richard Edwards (frontman and principal songwriter of Margot & The Nuclear So and So’s) released his debut solo album Lemon Cotton Candy Sunset via Joyful Noise Recordings (Kishi Bashi, Surfer Blood). Today, he shared the video for the album’s closing song “Moonwrapped” that was produced by Starburns Industries, the animation company behind Charlie Kaufman’s Academy Award and Golden Globe nominated animated feature film Anomalisa.

Everything Turned To Color Shares “Everything Turned to Color”
Today, Everything Turned to Color share their fourth single, “Everything Turned to Color” on All Things Go, who say the band “sounds like Norah Jones.” The band’s forthcoming, debut album, Life Imagined, due out June 23rd 2017. The 11-track LP was recorded, mixed and mastered by Blake Morgan at ECR Music Studios in NYC. The back-to-back Album Preview sets that were played on March 31st at Rockwood Music Hall in NYC both sold-out. ?
After releasing her debut EP, April 1st last fall, Hz aka Hz_Sound follows up a great summery single that’ll surely have the ladies dancing. the single was mixed and mastered by industry producer and audio engineer Steve Sola who has worked with the likes of P. Diddy, 50 Cent and Mariah Carey. The reggae influence is reminiscent of Drake’s “Controlla” or Justin Bieber’s, “Sorry.” Here is the Spotify link to stream:
ELECTRIC SIX Releases “I’ll Be In Touch” (inspired by Billy Joel video)
Detroit-based dance rockers ELECTRIC SIX have made its first official music video in five years! Behold, the video for “I’ll Be In Touch” off their latest release Fresh Blood For Tired Vampyres, which was released last October via Metropolis Records.
Directed by Los Angeles director Dillon Vaughn, “I’ll Be In Touch” is a shot-for-shot (mostly) remake of the video for “Sometimes A Fantasy” by Billy Joel which was released in 1980. “Twenty-seven years later, the story remains the same,” explains vocalist Dick Valentine. “Men are insecure, they have shitloads of problems, and even women who don’t really exist have no time for their bullshit.”

Bloody Your Hands Share New Track “Wandering Home”
Brooklyn-based trio Bloody Your Hands have shared new track “Wandering Home” via New Noise Magazine. Describing the track as the centerpiece of the album, the band explains it’s about “chasing ghosts and dreams from one edge of the country to the other and back again only to realize that you can never really escape yourself.” The song is the second single to be released from the bands forthcoming new album, Monsters Never Die, out July 7th.

Timi Temple ‘Sorry’s Not Magic’
Sydney multi-instrumentalist Timi Temple is showing no signs of slowing down in 2017, with the release of second single ‘Sorry’s Not Magic’, which premiered on The Music on Monday.
Taking influence from the likes of Tame Impala and Methyl Ethel, ‘Sorry’s Not Magic’ is an exhilarating, psychedelic groove, with all aspects of the track recorded and performed by Temple himself. The single was created over a course of one night after an argument that Timi Temple had with his partner. The track’s hallucinogenic vibe transitions into a more of sober ordeal as Temple addresses the way the word “Sorry” looses it’s meaning after it is thrown around too much.

Nashville outcast Wheeler Walker Jr. is declaring war on Country radio after several “program directors” from some of the nation’s “best” stations lied to his face about playing new single “Summers in Kentucky,” from his forthcoming masterpiece and second album, Ol’Wheeler.
“I have to say this is extremely disappointing but not surprising. Mainstream country radio shows their irrelevance more and more every day,” Walker said from the worldwide headquarters of The Wheeler Walker Jr. Podcast. “What the f*ck did I fly around the country and meet all of these a**holes for? I’m gonna go back to my original idea: using payola to bribe these fat f*cks with Krispy Kremes.”
Wooter Premieres Single via IMPOSE
The album Slow Burners I was recorded at The Dekalb Palace in Ridgewood Queens. The album is entirely written, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Rowan Brind a.k.a. Wooter. The sound of the album is in the title. This is a compilation (Part 1) of slow burning soothing grooves, the kind of music to ease yourself back into summer.

Danzig’s Blackest of The Black Destination Festival, 5/26-27
Band performance times have been announced for the highly anticipated KLOS Presents Blackest Of The Black Destination Festival, coming to Oak Canyon Park in Silverado, CA in Orange County this Memorial Day Weekend, Friday, May 26th and Saturday, May 27th. The brainchild of Glenn Danzig, the event not only serves as a music festival, but as a cultural experience: an escape. The festival will be hosted by Full Metal Jackie and will feature camping, along with a number of sinister attractions, and two music stages curated by Danzig.
With performances by some of the heaviest acts around, Blackest Of The Black includes Danzig’s first confirmed U.S. headline appearance of 2017. VIP doors open at 3:30 p.m and General Admission doors open at 4:00 p.m.
Quantum Keys Premieres Single via Wild Honey Pie
Quantum Keys began as a recording project in 2013, when John Gudenzi left Los Angeles for his hometown of Baltimore. The first songs “Grow/Keep Good Habits” were released with the Los Angeles label Hit City USA in 2014. John later self-released the Songs Out Of Season album, a shimmering pop, garage-rock record with feel good vibes. Leather Girls ‘Arabian Daze’
Leather Girls first unleashed their ferocious style of garage rock upon their hometown of Austin, Texas in 2015 after Erik Camacho (guitar/lead vox) and Mike Garrido (guitar/vox) bonded over their shared affinity for Tropicália, Los Dug Dugs, and Billy Childish. Dillon Fernandez soon got added into the mix (drums) shortly followed by Deborah White (bass/vox).
Once a fully gelled unit, they quickly garnered a reputation for their high energy live show and blistering fuzz accentuated with a hint of Texas twang – sharing bills with legends like Holly Golightly, The Dictators, Mr. Airplane Man and becoming a favorite show partner with local heavy hitters Ringo Deathstarr and Holy Wave.

“Coachella / The Lobby,” is a two-part song with “Coachella,” being his festival anthem blending party rap and R&B, and “The Lobby,” showcasing his lyrical flow. His sound is definitely for fans of Travis Scott.

Watch Kino Kimino’s new video for “Pale Calico”
From the snowy wilds of Manitoba, Kino Kimino landed in New York City, headed across the river to Hoboken and plugged in with half of Sonic Youth to throw down the ten sweetly serrated, sometimes volatile, post-punk songs comprising new album Bait Is for Sissies.
Some other things happened in between, it’s true, but the outline holds: Kino Kimino mastermind Kim Talon is a native of Winnipeg, and the singer and guitarist has since relocated to New York, after a few stops along the way. She recorded Bait Is for Sissies at Sonic Youth’s Echo Canyon West studio, with Lee Ranaldo on guitar and Steve Shelley on drums, along with Melinda Holm on bass. Talon met Ranaldo and Shelley through John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Kurt Vile), who produced.

SATANARCHIST: Thrash/Punk Duo Releases “Triumph”
Portland-based SATANARCHIST supplies the public with a vicious new dose of their punk-infused thrash metal concoction with “Triumph,” the latest single from their impending second album, First Against The Wall, which sees independent release next week. The new single is spilled by popular underground metal portal, No Clean Singing, as the band prepares to assault Canada on a cross-country tour.
Head North Debut Track “By Presidential Decree” via PureVolume
Buffalo, NY-based, cosmic rock band Head North announce their debut LP, The Last Living Man Alive Ever In The History Of The World, due out on June 2nd. The album was produced and mixed by Brett Romnes (I Am the Avalanche) and mastered by Jesse Cannon (Animal Collective, Man Overboard) at Barbershop Studios in Lake Hopatcong, NJ.
Today, Head North share their new single, “By Presidential Decree,” via PureVolume, who called the track an “intricate blend” of their “styling rock that relies on power chords and layered sounds.” Having already received attention from Noisey, New Noise Magazine and Dying Scene from their 2014 EP, Bloodlines, and hype on the LP from Alternative Press, Head North is currently gearing up for the release of their full body of work and accompanying tour.
