It’s a deeply personal record that reflects a period of profound change within the band, wherein relationships have shifted into unfamiliar territory. Songwriter and vocalist Nicole Miglis states:

“these songs revolve around the balance between self and another, of the fine line between giving too much and not enough. how the lowest emotions are the ones that bring us closest when we open ourselves to others. how sadness and vulnerability can bring the most power and the most destruction. how truly giving yourself to someone else in any relationship can lead to a loss of identity. and how to reclaim ourselves when those lines have been erased? where do we find worth within ourselves and what do we value. which parts do we give of ourselves, what do we keep, and what we ask for in return?”

Premiered by Ebro on Beats 1 Radio and debuted online by Pigeons & Planes, the Tame Impala-sampling “Lucky Guy” is a creepy and compelling example of what makes JAYLIEN special.

KING WASHINGTON Debuts “Superman” Music Video

“Superman” captures the frustrations of the artist – the feelings of not being good enough despite countless time and effort to improve and succeed. It buddies up to the band’s inspiration behind the album title Potential and together, both titles reflect the push-pull of trying to get recognized, while also balancing the need for outside gratification to mark one’s assessment of their own talent. The video crystallizes this as the camera follows fine artist Danielle Lee throughout her day as an aspiring artist. Ultimately, as King Washington’s Tyson Kelly points out, “There is an underlying message that good things come to those who perservere.”

Triathalon Drop New Video for “South Side” via Earmilk

What makes Savannah, GA’s Triathalon so curious is not where they fit musically—a lazy listener might lump their billowing lava lamp jams with murmuring shoegaze bands, though “indie rock” feels like the only box broad enough to contain their complexities. Rather, their curiosity is derived from the fact that they don’t easily fit anywhere, seemingly by design. In fact, as soon as listeners become accustomed to the band’s latest stylistic shift, Triathalon pivots in yet another challenging direction, daring its audience to keep up.
