See This Through Release “On My Own” Music Video
Rock quartet See This Through are releasing their new music video titled, “On My Own”. The new emotional, heart-felt video comes from the outfit’s title track, off their 2016 debut EP. The song describes a dark time in vocalist, Nick Blohm’s life, saying:
“‘On My Own’ contains the most honest lyrics that I’ve ever written. It’s a result of many life-changing events and it took a long time for me to sort my thoughts to deal with all that happened. The song is incredibly personal for me. We all shared a vision for the video, as it’s just as personal for everyone in the band as it is for me. It needed to be dark and full of emotion. It needed to be a bit claustrophobic. It needed to tell a story, just like the song. I think we accomplished that.”

“Caramel Dreams” from Blue Movies
Blue Movies’ forthcoming album, Disenchantment, was woven tentatively. Like the many hours of sitting required to attain an enlightened state of mind, the music featured on this record has something of an ephemeral, transcendental quality. Fading yet present, the songs on this record permeate through time and consciousness harking back towards the time when people could ‘just listen’ to long playing albums. Blue Movies’ Disenchantment invites you to relax and absorb their experiences.

New video for Sophia Kennedy ‘Build Me A House’
Elegant, melancholic, sometimes menacing, with smoldering piano melodies, desolately whistling organs, and a jaunty jaw’s harp loop; kissed by the golden Californian sun, or shrouded in gloomy, dreary fog: Sophia Kennedy is currently the most versatile composer in German pop music – not to mention the greatest singer. Her debut album “Sophia Kennedy” reveals her as a dramatic romanticist and distanced diseuse, as a deft lyricist and master of melody. In her eleven songs, she travels from doo-wop to dubstep, from classic crooning to breathless R’n’B, from Frank Sinatra to Beyoncé. Her talent for songwriting is deeply rooted in history, yet it seeks nothing but the present: both historically versed and timelessly beautiful at the same time.

A great song can cut across cultural boundaries better than language can, and I think K.Flay’s new track has that kind of power. For our team, it was important the video retained a sense of playfulness, which was made possible by the nuanced performances of dancers Savannah Harrison and Scott Hislop as choreographed by Andrew Winghart.”

Third Man Records announces unheard music from The Monks
The Monks – a strange, rare group with a story that sounds like a drunk friend’s generous hyperbole. A group of American G.I.s stationed in Germany on the precipice of Western cultural revolution starts playing music loosely connected to the rock n’ roll craze, contrastingly incorporating a critical and often offensive avant-garde edge. Nothing was off limits – screeching vocals, dark aesthetics, staccato-strummed banjo, sardonic lyricism, critiques of the Vietnam War and full monk costuming down to the tonsure. When viewed on the whole, it seems like an art school student’s senior thesis on what the craze means and its future possibilities. Due in large part to original Polydor vinyl collectability and years in the word-of-mouth hype machine, their legend and cult status has steadily blossomed since their last shows in 1967.
