Strawberry Girls Release New Single

Strawberry Girls have grown as musicians since first recording their debut album. If you listen and compare their earlier work to the upcoming record, the difference is massive. This contrast is most highlighted on the re-imagined version of “Black Night, Golden Circus”. It’s the first track the band ever wrote together and they were excited to go back and redo the song. Guitarist Zachary Garren explains, “When we originally recorded it, along with the rest of the original Italian Ghosts album, we played with less distortion and less energy. Over time, our live shows got more aggressive and energetic, and the recordings didn’t really hold up to what we became.”

The duo known as The Two Tens have racked up a lot of accomplishments since the release of their first EP, Volume 1, including three additional EPs, the full-length LP Volume, and four US tours. Not to mention that the 12-song Volume album yielded seven (yes, seven) fully-realized videos, all made on DIY budgets funded solely by the band themselves, as was the production of the first album.

Hear a new single off Bonny Doon’s upcoming s/t album: “What Time Is It In Portland?”

Bonny Doon’s mastery of restraint and melodically vulnerable songwriting comes into its own on their self-titled debut full length (Salinas). Previous homespun EP releases introduced a band residing in an unusual territory between songcraft and atmosphere. This record ventures further down that path, but comes together with a disarming timelessness, making even the stranger moments feel familiar. Its essence is floating, folk-ish rock that summons the tossed-off grandeur of early Smog or the Silver Jews boombox tHear a new single off Bonny Doon’s upcoming s/t album: “What Time Is It In Portland?”apes, and the dead-eyed poignancy of Neil Young’s gloriously unhinged Ditch Trilogy.

Rolling Stone Names Judah & the Lion one of 10 New Artists You Need to Know Now!

Judah & the Lion’s latest single, “Take It All Back,” logged an impressive four-week run at the top of the Alternative Song charts. Run Rabbit Run Release ‘We Don’t Know’

WE DON’T KNOW is the first taste from their EP and it is dense, dark, and raw. The thumping drums and unsettling organ drones dredge up an eerie tension that eventually erupts into a chaotic, gnarled mash of distortion and noise. A sonic departure from the band’s folky roots, the tune retains their strong bluegrass/country influences with driving banjo and rich vocal harmonies while taking further steps beyond the genre, few are brave enough to take.

From the same misty mountain top tape spool as their album A Weird Exits, Thee Oh Sees returned this fall with the companion LP An Odd Entrances, which delved more towards the contemplative side than the face-skinning aspects of the former. It was a cosmic exercise “en plein air” with Dwyer and company double drum shuffling, lounging with cellos, following a flute around the groove, and spooling a few Grimm-dark lullabies along the way.
