Wings outstretched, TO. releases her EP I AM TO, a soaring collection of anthems that fly toward the heavens. The premiere track, “I Am,” introduces the immediate intrigue of the singer, whose mysticism is established from the first lyrics: “I am TO. You are TO. We are TO.” From there, To. experiments with a variety of genres, “Soul Sister” in particular expanding her sound into Soul and Funk, the fresh, energetic track captivating the ear through groovy, trance-like sound. Finally, on “Down” the soft tinkle of keyboard keys coexist with crashing percussion, exemplifying the deep mythos of TO.’s multilayered identity as an artist. I AM TO is an achievement of artistry from a rising Swedish star. Also included in the EP is a remix from CVRL, which has gained over 10,000 listens on SoundCloud and garnered plenty of praise.
TO. is Anna Melander’s solo project – a 24-year-old producer and songwriter from the north of Sweden. The artist name TO. is Japanese for duck – under the wings of TO. we find eerie productions inspired by the trap-movement. Her drone-like, seductive vocals float over the track and bears the sound of a futuristic Karin Dreijer Andersson in Fever Ray. Anna recently has moved to London to pursue playing in live venues and is going to school studying music.
