Tender Glue “Goodbye Bushwick”

Tender Glue is the project of Tom Klewicki, who moved to NYC from Poland in 2002, at age 17. His formative music experience was an interesting one, to say the least:

“When I was in Poland, probably 12 years old, my brother was confronted by a group of gypsies. He was holding a brand new ADIDAS soccer ball and was hassled to trade it with a broken guitar. He brought the guitar home and I was excited because I always wanted to learn how to play guitar. I took the guitar and tried fixing it by taping the neck with duck tape because duck tape works for everything. [smiles] But one day I came home and I found out that my mother had thrown it away and I even went to the garbage container to look for it, but I couldn’t find it. After that, it stayed in the back of my mind that it was something that I would eventually get into.”

In advance of its impending release, Noisey is streaming the record in its forlorn entirety issuing, “‘Beautiful’ is generally a relative term — hideously abrasive black metal can be beautiful as a gentle folk song — but some artists are able to circumvent those grey areas of perception and personal taste, and cross genre lines without a moment’s thought, in pursuit of grace. WORM OUROBOROS is one such musical entity, and what its members collectively create is objectively, inarguably, utterly beautiful. To attempt to deny that fact is to deny one’s own ears.”

Brooding and raw, ‘Untitled’ denotes an ending and acceptance of pain. Fortifying guitars and punchy percussion build the track to its denouement, from a quiet realisation to an ominous hurricane of memories. Animator Joel Williams set this emotional whirlwind against the seeming mundanity of walking home alone – a time when the truths you’ve been hiding from can sneak up on you. The clip quite literally rolls the credits on the story it tells, wistful and nostalgic – but ultimately letting go.

BOYTOY PREMIERE COVER OF THE EYES’ “WHEN THE NIGHT FALLS”

Guitarist/vocalist Saara Untracht-Oakner stated, “I forgot where I first heard this song, but when I did I was totally entranced. It was one of the sexiest songs I’d ever heard – so much feel and so much cool for such a simple song. I loved how it could convey so much with so little. I wanted to cover it for a while, but never actually tried. Then one day this summer I was playing it in the car and proposed it to Glenn [van Dyke] and Chase [Noelle] and they were both super into it. So Chase learned the drum part and Glenn came in with some tambourine and psychy noise guitar stuff. I borrowed Chase’s harmonica and we laid down our version on the song in a little studio that Glenn rents out in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.”
