AUBREYLYN SET TO OPEN EAST COAST DATES

“Lyrical neo-jazz” is a fitting description for Aubreylyn, the nineteen-year-old singer/songwriter and Bucks County, PA native. And the world will soon fall under her spell with the release of her forthcoming yet-to-be-titled album, as well as the singles “Portuguese” and “Motion R&B” – overseen by Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum engineer and producer David Ivory.

“I would describe my music as lyrical, neo jazz,” explains Aubreylyn. “The lyrics are the most important part of my music when writing; I have experiences and stories to share. I like to have a lot of fun playing around with cultural motifs as well! Both musically and lyrically, I’ve used French, Spanish, and Mediterranean influences, and most recently, I’ve written a song with an Irish ballad bridge.”

Stereogum premieres election-themed Mainland track, ‘Empty Promises’

NYC-based indie rock quartet Mainland blend layer upon layer of rhythmic guitar so seamlessly that it seems that there are more than four people in the band. On their latest single “Empty Promises” they bend a little vintage fuzz, angsty tinges, and intricate drums that slyly build to a compelling crescendo. And fittingly on Election Day, frontman Jordan Topf sings of misplacing trust in people that promise the world with some poignant lyrics that ring truer on this supremely important day. Here’s what Topf had to say about the song:

“Empty Promises” is a song about expectations. Sometimes you put too much blind faith into people. Its a trap. Make the right decision today about the people in power.” – Stereogum

YOU ME AT SIX UNVEIL NEW SINGLE

“Give” has already earned immediate attention, with Dork hailing the track as “a sky high ballad,” adding, “‘Give’ draws to mind the stripped-back rawness that YOU ME AT SIX have delivered time and time again, the sort of anthem that’s born to be played to thousands of people.” “Taking the pace down a notch,” wrote Rock Sound, “‘Give’ shows a softer side to YOU ME AT SIX.”

COMMON SOULS LAY IT OUT SMOOTH WITH “ROOTS//HABIT”

From “Roots//Habit,” the second single off their Pyramids Lake EP, it isn’t hard to see why electronic R&B duo Common Souls won first place in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest last year. The two part track melts with liquid soul, shimmering with a poignancy resultant of the thoughtful lyricism and shining guitars throughout the downtempo track — and Ryan Yoo’s quietly lovely vocals captivate, especially as they escalate toward vivid harmony at the track’s conclusion. Overflowing with heart, “Roots//Habit” is a mesmerizing achievement for the new duo, its beauty born from the marriage between simplicity and authenticity.

Rebel Kind releases their new LP

Rebel Kind’s third full length Just For Fools is a thirteen song followup to 2014’s Today, featuring the reunion of singer-songwriter Autumn Wetli, and enduring rhythm section Shelley Salant and Amber Fellows. Just For Fools revisits some of the same themes of past records—romantic discontentment, mounting paranoia, a brief moment of confidence—with the distinct difference of choosing to uncrate the back-flipping demons in those feelings and give them a poke back. If Laurel Canyon and Today were for those who felt cursed, Just For Fools is a reclamation of control and the jubilant release of self-doubt from liars, gaslighters, and the rigmarole of daily life.

RICK ROSS RELEASES OFFICIAL STATEMENT CURRENTLY RESOLVING TAX OBLIGATIONS WITH THE IRS

Today, platinum rap icon and business mogul, Rick Ross, has released an official statement elaborating on the details of his current dealings with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). It has been reported that Rick Ross owes an estimated amount of $5.7 million dollars in back taxes.

When asked about the financial ordeal:

William “Rick Ross” Roberts II

“I’ve been fortunate enough to experience financial success on a large scale through both my music career and my many business ventures. With this type of financial success comes financial responsibility. As artists we are blessed to be able to make money, but on the same note, are held accountable for our federal tax obligations just like everyone else. I am fully aware of my current dealings with the IRS. This issue arose from an incorrect filing by a prior accountant for the 2012 tax year. My new team of accountants have corrected the prior filing, and as anyone who has dealt with the IRS understands, it is a process. We have already satisfied a large portion of these issues and I can assure you that we are working very closely with the IRS to bring a full resolution shortly and will continue moving forward in a positive direction!”

THE MONEY WAR “RECALL”

“Recall” is the second single from forthcoming EP and was produced by Dylan who explains the song was written on the road in America – “Recall is about being tired of repetition. When we went traveling in the US I remembered all of the things I love about Perth, I just needed a change to remind me. It kind of felt like another part of the soundtrack of the road trip, written during a writing burst where I wrote 5 songs in a day.”

Roya Shares Politically Charged “End Times” Song And Video Via Brooklyn Vegan

In reaction to the events of last night, Roya shared a song and video named “End Times” via Brooklyn Vegan.

Lead singer Rahill Jamilifard accompanied the politically charged track and video with the following statement:

“I wrote this song almost a year ago on the eve of a heightened political regression that I felt was happening both in and outside of America. At the time there was a lot of unjust violence happening between cops and minorities, there was also a universal backlash of even more hatred towards different groups of people who were religiously, ethnically, and politically divided. I made this video out of that frustration, using a montage of footage from one hundred years of our worlds violent and disturbing history.”

Moth Wings Release Ridiculous, Lo-fi Music Video for “I Used To Hate Myself”

The lo-fi, Texas-based artist Moth Wings has released a new music video for his latest single “I Used To Hate Myself.” The fast-paced, self-loathing track is accompanied by a dingy, 90’s style video that vocalist Spencer Fort refers to as an “anti-video.”

“The first time I saw a music video I thought it was distracting and overbearing,” says Fort. “I never really watched them as I grew up with music. I did however slowly watch it take over the industry and become seemingly more important than the song playing underneath. When it came down to this particular song, I wanted to make sure I didn’t play to the overproduced visual world we know now, and decided to strip it down to its bare bone. That’s why it’s as ridiculous and lo fi of a video as it is. Anything more would have just been hollow.”

DANGERS SHARE FRENETIC ‘KISS WITH SPIT’ VIDEO VIA BROOKLYN VEGAN

“This entire record is about inhabiting interstitial spaces — physical, psychological, and emotional states which exist between two poles. This song in particular is about the landscape between love and pain, sex and violence, masculinity and femininity, heterosexuality and homosexuality, aggression and tenderness, the gamut of which we regularly experience during our shows. How strange is it that anywhere else I would be enraged, but that during our shows I can be punched, hit, spit on and leave feeling as though something wonderful just happened?” – Al Brown IV, vocalist

Offers RISK RELAY with the new single, “The Meeting” is the story of the restless mind of Llewellyn Drury, alone in his 1850s Cincinnati apartment, trying to find meaning through a dimly lit library of ancient texts as choking clouds of coal soot exhale against his window panes. Palace Share New Video For ‘It’s Over’

PALACE’s latest single, the ornate, broken paean ‘It’s Over’ now has an accompanying video – a viewing equally as delicate; watch the clip, which was directed by Maxim Kelly (Boxed In, Zola Blood, FEWS) below. When frontman Leo Wyndham wrote the track, he had no idea that it would become an unknowing prediction of the heartbreak to come and that the album – which tackles loss, love, and the shifting tides of human emotion with both power and restraint – would take on a darker relevance. “Two or three of the songs were almost predictions,” Leo says ruefully. “They are about things that had never happened to me in a relationship but have all kind of come true.”
