Graham Nash’s 1971 classic, “I Used To Be A King” Cover

Of the making of “I Used To Be A King,” Oldermost’s frontman Bradford Bucknum expands on their choice to cover it: “Songs for Beginners is not necessarily a unique find in a record store bin, but the record still feels like a special discovery when you first set on eyes on the simple and somewhat lusterless album cover. “I Used To Be A King” starts with a tempo just slow enough to hold the listener in a state of suspension. You think: there is a release on the horizon. And then Nash sings “It’s alright …” and the song picks up, but only to build more tension and then there is the most rewarding part of the song at the tail end of the chorus—”No one is going to break my heart again”—where the listener experiences that sweet release. This track also seemed like a great opportunity to highlight the string arrangements that have helped make our musical output stand apart. There’s also a sweetness and a melancholy to the song and it takes a healthy dose of both to mix up an Oldermost song.”

Norway’s Still Changing to release new album September 23rd

In The End, Still Changing’s first full length album, is at it’s most base level about what is ultimately the only thing that matters: The people we share our lives with.

It captures the essence of the band’s personal journey through their many years as friends first, musicians second. They are a young yet experienced band, with all the members having been involved in music from an early age. As a child, lead singer Marius Mørve used songwriting to create his own colourful and safe universe after the loss of a close family member prompted his imagination to develop a method of storytelling to cope the loss. Eventually this became a method of fun and engaging escape that expanded without limits. This pure joy for music, a world where anything is possible, is the founding element of his music.
