THE LANDING REWORKS SATCHMODE’S “UNDERTOW”

NYC-based space-pop indie artist The Landing announces the remix for Satchmode’s “Undertow!”

The Landing is a solo artist seeking to turn the struggle of finding one’s place in the Universe into an anthem for the optimistic. A classically trained musician, who has scored films and written original pieces for orchestra, The Landing labels his music as “Space Pop,” taken from a style of music popularized by composers of the 50s and early 60s during the birth of the space age. Drawing inspiration from this period, his lyrics and artwork also use space imagery and exploration as a theme. Influences for The Landing come from an eclectic mix of classical music, space-age pop, EDM and indie-pop.

Unable to shake his obsession, the janitor soon learns that there’s much more to the piece than meets the eye. THE MEKANIX NEW SINGLE

For more than 15 years, The Mekanix have been a one-stop shop for street production, defining the Bay Area’s sound from behind the scenes. On “Abandonment,” premiered by HotNewHipHop, The Mekanix provide a lush backdrop for two of the Area’s realest emcees, Mozzy and Philthy Rich, to rap about their everyday struggles and their hometowns of Sacramento and Oakland. The Mekanix explained the origins of the track to HotNewHipHop: “If you know Mozzy then you know he says stuff like ‘I like them cry-baby beats,’ which means that it’s an emotional beat, something that makes you feel a certain way; it’s not directed to the club or a party track. It’s a beat that reflects struggle. On the song, he and Philthy talk about, ‘The streets is where I’m from, I could never abandon them.’ And then sometimes you got people who show you a side you’ve never seen before and it forces you to abandon those people.”

TIMMMY’S ORGANISM SHARES VIDEO FOR “BACK IN THE DUNGEON” ON SELF-TITLED

Today, Timmy’s Organism shares their brand new video for “Back in the Dungeon” on self-titled. The song is from last fall’s LP, Heartless Heathen. Tim Lampinen (aka Timmy Vulgar) of Timmy’s Organism called the video “three-headed monster rock!” The video was directed by Jesus Rivera who said: “‘Back in the Dungeon’ is a snotty, psychotronic, 12-sided dice roll of a fun time. I love VHS tapes, ’80s heavy-metal magazines, and ’80s fantasy flicks. Also, I love the idea of using wizardry to transmit VHS feeds into a person’s brain. Like, medieval virtual reality. We wanted to take all of those things and give it a punk rock mutant-damaged Timmy makeover. Keep it weird, keep it raw and entertaining. We filmed it all in a day and a half with no crew.”

ARMS “MISSING” AT BROOKLYN VEGAN

“No one cares where you are / There’s nothing that you forgot / and nothing you have to do,” sings ARMS mastermind Todd Goldstein at the ecstatic peak of “Missing,” which sounds like an Electro-Pura outtake on steroids, all squealing guitar, honeyed atmosphere, and Tlacael Esparza’s deliriously aggressive drums. It’s the sound of Goldstein finally letting the songs speak for themselves, of accepting the fact that, in the face of life’s overwhelming shortness, holding anything back is kind of ridiculous. ARMS’ third LP, Patterns, lassoes every last one of ARMS’ sprawling stylistic and emotional tendencies and channels them into a handsome, wild-eyed suite of guitar pop. Patterns is a love letter to letting go—of past lives, of old loves, of best-laid-plans—and it is the long-running Brooklyn-based songwriter’s finest work to date.

THE ALBUM LEAF NEW TRACK “BACK TO THE START”

The Album Leaf has been making its mark as a soft-spoken innovator steadily and surely since 1999. One year after forming the influential San Diego instrumental group Tristeza, songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Jimmy LaValle founded The Album Leaf, a solo studio project turned full-fledged live band. The diversity of The Album Leaf’s music is second only to the diversity of the music that has inspired LaValle through the years – the artist has named everything from German Ambient/pysch bands like Can, Cluster and Harmonia to traditional mariachi music, electronic music and Brian Eno as some of his primary influences – and it’s clear that The Album Leaf is unafraid of thinking outside the box, both as an individual artist & within the larger scope of modern music.

LONESOME SHACK’S NEW STUDIO ALBUM “THE SWITCHER”

Lonesome Shack started in the early 2000’s when songwriter Ben Todd developed his musical voice in the isolation of rural New Mexico. After moving to Seattle in 2007, Todd teamed up with drummer Kristian Garrard and they found an instant chemistry. As a duo they released Bound To Die (2008) and Slidin Boa (2010) and brought their primitive boogie to every corner of the USA. In 2011, Lonesome Shack were joined by bassist Luke Bergman and the trio released the live album City Man (2012), which was recorded in one night at their favorite neighborhood bar, Cafe Racer. With More Primitive (2014), Lonesome Shack continued to hone their skills as an elemental rock group: stripped down, raw, expressive and danceable.
