HANDS LIKE HOUSES NEW VIDEO
Australian rock band Hands Like Houses are excited to share the video for “Degrees of Separation,” the latest video to be released from the band’s third full-length album Dissonants, which was released this February via Rise Records. Perhaps one of the band’s most hooky, alternative songs, “Degrees of Separation” is all about contrast. Vocalist Trenton Woodley explains:
I feel like “Degrees” encapsulates the struggles of creating Dissonants – both the time and creative challenges involved. We wrote much of the album in a snowy winter setting (a very alien thing to us Australians) that made it feel like it was the perfect metaphor for trying to make something worthwhile while being so far from where you belong. The upbeat vibe contrasts the fairly dark and personal lyric matter, so it’s a fun song to crank live while still keeping it real and grounded.
Grammy-nominated songwriter Bobby Brackins and IAMSU are sharing their “Faithful” New Bay Remix, adding fresh vibes to the infectious song that features Ty Dolla $ign on the hook and Nic Nac on the beat. Bay Area native and LA-based Bobby Brackins is gearing up for a trilogy EP release, … To Live For, … To Kill For, and … To Die For, and released “Faithful” at the top of the year as the first single via Interview Magazine. … To Live For, which will be released on May 13th, features a powerhouse roster of artists Bobby’s worked with over the years as a songwriter including Ty Dolla $ign, Zendaya (for whom he wrote her first hit single, “Swag It Out” in 2011,) Eric Bellinger, Austin Mahone, Jeremih, G-Eazy, Marc E. Bassy, Wash, and his budding artist, Mina.

“PANDA” GOES PLATINUM
When 22-year-old Manchester producer Menace sold a “Meek Mill/Ace Hood/Wale Type Beat” called “Maniac” to Brooklyn teenager Desiigner, he had a feeling the resulting song, “Panda,” would become a hit someday. “The track itself had so much energy,” Menace told XXL in an interview. “I told [Desiigner] this was going to be something big, it’s going to get him signed; it’s going to get me signed. The production and the flow of his lyrics went well together.” Today, the RIAA certified the Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit as Platinum, cementing Menace as one of the hottest young producers in the game. The 22 year-old spent 10 years honing his craft before finding his production co-opted on Kanye West’s “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 2,” changing his life. “Every 10 minutes I get emails asking if I can make a beat similar to ‘Panda,’ explained Menace to XXL. “Since January, I’m just looking at it all.” Earlier this week, Menace signed a publishing deal with Tim Blacksmith’s Stellar Songs, who also works with Sam Smith, Emili Sandé, Keizer, Labyrinth, Fetty Wap, and many more.

The underground hip-hop scene in Toronto is a dark and clandestine landscape to navigate; most evident in it’s basement dive shows and confused, undefined sound. But spend enough time meandering through $5 rap shows and back-door hip-hop studios and some faces will begin to look familiar. Local ‘6’ MC, Producer and Hip-Hop Guru, Prolific is one of those faces and his video for ‘Hagakure,’ off of his latest effort, ‘Amor Fati’ is a product of the rugged terrain he frequents.

STEVE YOUNG ALBUM TEASER
British Singer/Songwriter, Steve Young’s music, has been described as “Country music with pop sensibilities” also as “Well crafted Pop songs with strong Country overtones”. The acoustic guitar pulls away from ‘Rock’ genre but the live show ‘Rocks’ far too much to be considered acoustic. The lyrics far too personal to be Folk but occasionally too ambiguous to be Blues.
You only need to skim the surface of Steve’s long and diverse career to realise that ‘genre’ became obsolete a long time ago. Put your pigeons back in their box, open your hearts and minds and maybe, just maybe there will be something here – just for you……
