CLAIRE CRONIN AND JOHN DIETERICH’S NEW ALBUM STREAMING NOW

Came Down a Storm creates an intimate world characterized by wreckage and redemption. Now streaming in advance of its May 6th release on Ba Da Bing, the album is a collaboration between published poet and musician Claire Cronin and Deerhoof guitarist John Dieterich. Recorded at Dieterich’s house in New Mexico, Came Down A Storm is melancholy folk with thick arrangements, featuring Claire’s delicate voice over John’s guitar, and additional instrumentation from Ezra Buchla (Chelsea Wolfe), Chris Vatalaro (Antibalas, Matana Roberts, Sam Amidon) and Heather Trost (A Hawk and a Hacksaw, Beirut).

VINCENT COLEMAN NEW SINGLE

Vincent Coleman’s new single “Just One / Fall Through.” I would love for you to consider for a possible track feature on Skope. Vincent Coleman’s Miguel-like vocals mixed with a smooth electronic backdrop makes for one sultry and seductive R&B ballad. A song about past lovers, Vincent Coleman dishes his own experiences of being hurt while falling in and out of love, breaking the heart of others, and the search for forgiveness that incites. Love can be a crazy thing…

SWOLLEN ORGANS NEW SINGLE

Feelings About Gender Guilt Over Time takes a long, hard, sweaty look at the tenuous relationship between gender roles. Fraught with uncomfortable quiet moments and overbearing aggression, this release is a disturbing examination of sexuality, through the lens of misanthropy. As the new SWOLLEN ORGANS record is prepped for release through Annihilvs Power Electronix, Cvlt Nation has been sanctioned a leak of the album’s writhing “Grieving Every Night, Drugging Every Residual Symptom,” warning pedestrians of its, “Pure NOISE, Pure FILTH, Pure SONIC HATE, Pure AUDIO CONFRONTATION – you are about to experience SWOLLEN ORGANS and bathe yourself in his disgust!”

SLOW STEVE SHARES FULL STREAM OF ‘DYNAMIC ADVENTURES’ AT FLOOD MAGAZINE

Adventures is the first LP of Ex-Fenster member Rémi Letournelle. His bubbling vintage synths (together with an impressive variety of instruments) will take you on a strange trip through imagined galaxies and secret deep-sea worlds. Call it weird, but this is amateur pop in all its glory, and the most natural outlet for Slow Steve. Think of Ariel Pink, John Maus, early Future Islands, old Krautrock luminaries or Arthur Russell – a whole school of alternative pop music that Rémi is very likely to join. Adventures is more than just an application.

PREMIERE: Slow Steve Channels Berlin-era Bowie, Serge Gainsbourg on New LP

BOOTS & BREW COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL

In honor of National Police Week, established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy, the first annual Boots & Brew Country Music Festival will take place Wednesday, May 18 from 5-9pm at Temblor Brewing Company (3200 Buck Owens Blvd., Bakersfield, CA 93308). The concert event–produced by the family of fallen Bakersfield police officer David Nelson–will feature performances by local Southern California musicians American Stone and Doug C and the Blacklisted, among others. The show is free and open to the public.

BPD officer David J. Nelson was killed in the line of duty on June 26, 2015 in a vehicle crash following a high-speed pursuit in NE Bakersfield. In his memory, the Nelson family has partnered with the Kern County 999 Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization assisting the families of Kern County Peace Officers who have died in the line of duty since 2007, to manage and operate a scholarship fund to be offered to graduating high school students of Kern High School District. All proceeds raised via the Boots & Brew Country Music Festival will go directly to the Officer David Nelson Memorial Scholarship Fund.

TRAIN PAYS TRIBUTE TO LED ZEPPELIN

Multi-platinum-selling band TRAIN is set to pay homage to one of their biggest musical inspirations with the first cover album of their career called DOES LED ZEPPELIN II. The album is set for release on June 3, 2016 on Crush Music in association with Atlantic Records, Led Zeppelin’s record label, which released the original Led Zeppelin II in October 1969. The nine-track collection follows the original Led Zeppelin II track listing, including classic hit songs such as “Ramble On” and “Whole Lotta Love.” The album, available for pre-order now, will be available on CD, limited edition vinyl, digital download, and all streaming services.

The decision to do a Led Zeppelin cover album took shape when the band recently performed the complete Led Zeppelin II album on this year’s annual Sail Across the Sun cruise. “Our favorite band is Led Zeppelin, and they made a huge impression on our lives musically,” said lead singer Pat Monahan. “So I thought, why don’t we record one of their albums, just for the fun of it for our fans. The hard part was deciding which one.”

CLASH PREMIERE IZZY FLYNN’S DEBUT SINGLE ‘MEDICINE’

Inspired by Joni Mitchell, Leonardo Da Vinci, Frank Ocean, Frederic Chopin, Esperanza Spalding, Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill and Keith Jarrett, it is fair to say that London born singer/songwriter Izzy Flynn is not an artist who can easily be boxed. Having trained in jazz at Leeds College of Music, Izzy’s own style is a fusion of the freeform musicality of her learning and the structural accuracy of Da Vinci’s body series.
