The first offering since EP1’s poetic and reflective “Desert Island” track and accompanying ethereal video, “Quiet Desperation” is a powerfully driven up-tempo song that is both dark and uplifting at the same time. With undeniably one of catchiest opening lines, Adiam prominently establishes herself: “I know that you’ve been fucking. Everybody knows.” The sound is downright propulsive, and Adiam speaks frankly about feelings of pain and despair with unprecedented coolness and implicitness (“Can’t hide my desperation / Don’t want the world to know“), as well as brutal self-confidence (“It never was my decision to cut you open and watch you bleed“). In titular reference to a quote by American poet and philosopher Henry David Thoreau – “The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation“ – it is her uniquely authentic deliverance that makes this song, despite it’s gloomy contents, hard not to sing along to.

GOOD ENGLISH “THE FIRE WALK”
Rock and roll sisters, Elizabeth, Celia, and Leslie Rasmussen, otherwise known as the fierce Good English have teamed up with Substream Magazine (LINK) to unveil their first single “The Fire Walk” off their highly anticipated full length album to be released mid March. The track was the result of an ordinary band practice going very, very right. Although not the kind of ladies to sit down and “jam” on this particular day, the trio started off their rehearsal by setting up, making noise and just having some fun with a few “off the cuff” licks and fills. “The bass line and drum beat fit comfortably with one another very quickly so we knew we were on to something,” stated Elizabeth. “The Fire Walk” is a continuous dynamic build from start to finish climaxing with a wall of sound created by droning guitar solos and interweaving vocal melodies.

Serendipity is capricious. In its undisciplined form it is merely a fortunate accident. However, married to disciplined purpose, it can take the measure of chance and produce extraordinary results. The story of Weekend Getaway is one of discipline and purpose sprinkled with a dollop of serendipity.
In 2012 and 2013 band co-founders Marcus Vess and Gary McKinney recorded and released several original beach songs including “Let’s Shag on the Beach” and “Having a Good Time”. Both songs were well-received but they wanted more, much more. They dreamed of organizing a group composed of exceptionally talented musicians to create a uniquely Southeastern sound to promote the rich heritage of R&B, Jazz, Soul and Carolina beach music. In 2014 they began the search.

Toronto based Hard Rock band Last Bullet have released a music video for their new single “Sin”. Envisioned, edited and co-directed by frontman Bryan Fontez, “Sin” was filmed in the 24th floor attic of Toronto’s historical landmark the Fairmont Royal York Hotel (the 1929 built setting for Saw 5). The celebrity destination hotel, where Jim Morrison scratched his name in the same attic wall where the video was filmed, required the band carry all of their equipment up 700+ flights of stairs.

Los Angeles producers Vindata have released the video for “Can’t Say No” featuring vocalist Chuck Ellis off their sophomore EP, Through Time and Space, out now on OWSLA. The video was shot by director Adam Newport-Berra (Killer Mike, Dirty Projectors, Nike, Intel) at a large farm in upstate New York. Chuck Ellis and the crew were welcomed into the farm owners’ home during the shoot, where all of them were surprised with a newborn baby halfway through filming.

While starting to record new songs, Hudson Bell was working on a history book about the city of San Francisco, a place in its early days known as Yerba Buena (translation “good herb”), which became the title of his first album in six years. “It’s also the name of an island in the middle of the bay between San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley,”Hudson explains. “When we were recording I was in San Francisco, John Slater (bass guitar) was living in Berkeley and Brian Fraser (drummer) was in Oakland. Yerba Buena seemed like the perfect title for our upcoming release.”

BILL & MURRAY PREMIERE VIDEO FOR SINGLE “BORED”
Tel-Aviv-based synthpop trio, Bill & Murray, announce the release of the video for their single, “Bored.” The track is from the group’s debut album, A New Kind of High, which dropped in September of 2015. The new single was exclusively premiered on PureVolume, who says, “The newcomers’ sharp, gritty sound has earned them praise in a short period of time, recalling the hallmarks of gritty, late ’80s inspired pop.”
KANYE WEST LABEL EVENT PIX
Thursday, Feb. 11 was a star-studded affair at NYC nightclub Up&Down for Kanye West’s record label’s G.O.O.D. Music event. Guests at the private party were the only crowd to hear West’s new music aside from his fashion show/listening party at Madison Square Garden earlier in the day.
Kayne West’s Creative Director, Virgil Abloh, played back to back tracks from Kanye’s new album, The Life Of Pablo, for guests at the exclusive affair. The over-the-top party was attended by music artists A$AP Rocky, Wale and Charli XCX along with A-listers including Bella Hadid and Hailey Baldwin, who were seen having a good time with friends and dancing to West’s new album in the VIP section. The crowd went wild when Virgil Abloh spun A$AP Rocky’s chart-topping hits while Rocky himself hung out at a table near the DJ booth. Also seen at the exclusive event was New York Giants’ Victor Cruz, Supermodel Dev Windsor, DJ Harley Viera-Newton and Stylist Ian Conner, who made an appearance in the Yeezy fashion show at Madison Square Garden.

MADDIE ZIEGLER JOINS DANCE.COM
Superstar dancer Maddie Ziegler of “Dance Moms” and Sia’s “Chandelier” music video (just to name a few), has recently joined Dance.com. A premiere online community and social network for the dance industry, Dance.com unites dance enthusiasts with businesses, studios and retailers.
Joined by many other dance industry professionals on Dance.com, Maddie just recently made the announcement of her joining the platform to her over 5 million followers in a post on her Instagram page, which has landed her 158,000 likes to date.

BIG FREEDIA WARNED THAT TWERKING COULD GET HER ARRESTED IN MISSISSIPPI
New Orleans Queen of Bounce, Big Freedia, had to explain to fans on social media tonight why her show was cancelled at The Dollar Box Showroom in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
The show, which was scheduled for Friday February 12, was cancelled after the club owner, Ben Shemper, got a call from a State Alcohol Beverage Control officer who asserted that, after watching some Big Freedia videos on Youtube, her show might be in violation of Mississippi codes which prohibits certain sexual conduct where there is alcohol served.

Alternative Scots, Armstrong, have debuted a new music video for their song “Bend. Buckle. Break” via ESPN Music. The video stars Muay Thai boxer and current ISKA British champion Amy Pirnie. “We had initially planned on using actresses for the main roles and had the opportunity to use the Inferno Fighters gym in Rutherglen for the shoot,” says vocalist Nicole Mason. “We went to speak to the guys who ran the gym and told them what we were thinking of and they suggested that actresses might not look the part and said that they could speak to Amy. For ourselves, there was no decision to make between using an actress to play the part of a fighter and using someone who actually lived and breathed the exact story we were trying to tell. The fact that Amy was the current UK champ was just an added bonus!”
