The songs on the album include themes such as moving on from past relationships and gaining new confidence as a person and an artist. NEW SONG BY ANDERSON EAST
“Learning” is the third track unveiled from Southern Family—a new compilation produced and conceived by Producer of the Year Grammy Nominee Dave Cobb—which will be released March 18 on Low Country Sound/Elektra Records and is now available for pre-order. Each pre-order comes with an immediate download of “Learning” as well as Miranda Lambert’s “Sweet By and By” and John Paul White’s “Simple Song.”
MICHAEL MAY “1954”
“1954 is a song that represents empowerment and strength in a world where people can and will criticize your every move. I wrote the song out of frustration with old school societal norms that have no place in today’s culture. I wanted to write something that empowers people to live their life the way they choose. No matter what judgement or negativity someone faces, it’s possible to rise above it and (as cheesy as this may sound) just be who you are. I wrote the song in just a few hours and recorded the song the next day. It’s a defiant, sassy song and it embodies everything I have wanted to say for a long time!”

“GEAR, DIARY” FEATURE TOM TOM MAG
While The Tall Pines are known for their foot stomping sound, most of that energy comes from the unique percussion style of Connie Lynn Petruk. Known mostly for her powerful vocals (including her work with David Bowie, Elvis Costello, Ronnie Spector, Pretty Lights, and more!), anybody who has had the chance to catch the band live or see their videos would quickly notice the absence of a drum kit.

THE VANITY PREMIERES OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR “STAY” ON NYLON
“We shot [the video] in Brooklyn in this really cool warehouse where they used to shoot porn in the early days. It’s not why we picked it, but it was an interesting fact to know when deciding which couch in the green room to sit on. Beyonce has also recorded a music video there, which was all the H-Town blessing we needed. She shot ‘Grown Woman’ here, which is exactly how I felt like shooting our band’s first big music video.” – vocalist Alex Dugan

GIOVANNI JAMES PREMIERES DEBUT VIDEO “SHAME ON YOU”
“Plenty of people in the world need shaming right now,” believes Giovanni James. But rather than explicitly implicating the subject of his animosity, the New York native would rather let listeners decide.
He tells The FADER, “I have my personal reasons for writing it, but would rather let the listeners’ own life narratives dictate the meaning for them. That’s the beauty of art – it has the ability to be interpreted on many levels depending on how it hits you.”

Growing up in Chicago you learn a lot from the streets. Once you commit to a lifestyle there is no going back or backing down. You have to stand up for what you believe in through and through. VANDAVEER SHARE CAPTIVATING NEW VIDEO VIA NPR
Three weeks away from the release of The Wild Mercury, Vandaveer are debuting a captivating new animated video, directed by Michael Lloyd, via NPR.
“A Little Time Off Ahead” is an upbeat number off the fifth, and career-defining LP for the band. The video’s “storybook” aesthetic, coupled with the syrup-sweet doubled vocal delivery of the song, could have easily touched on saccharine with many other collaborators, but predictably, with the earnest talents of both frontman Mark Charles Heidinger, and director Michael Lloyd, the end result dovetails as well as fans might hope.

North Texas musician Jacob Metcalf just released his first full-length solo effort, Fjord, last week. THE ATTICS “NOT LIKE” VIDEO
The Attics release their new single ‘Not Like’ – an introspective, sweetly sarcastic exploration of what you call a “hometown.”
Returning to their roots for their latest release, ‘Not Like’ is quirky pop music, standing on the sidelines of a dancefloor. Sparse verses with minimal beats, choruses that show careful, yet catchy restraint and a twisted psych breakdown with a looping falsetto calling “hometown always is one place; she goes away, but always stays with me”. This is pop songwriting, flirting with deep layers of effected synthetic instruments and wonky bass lines.
