MAJOR LAZER AND DJ SNAKE’S “LEAN ON” VIDEO HITS 1 BILLION VIEWS
“India is special and its beauty absolutely humbled me. When we toured there as Major Lazer, it was mind blowing to see our fan-base and we wanted to incorporate the attitude and positive vibes into our video and just do something that embodies the essence of Major Lazer. Major Lazer has always been a culture mashup and to us, India feels like some kind of special creature with one foot in history and one firmly in the future. The experience is something we’ll never forget.“

“I LOST MY DINOSAUR” VIDEO
Spartan Records label mates The Foxery (Louisville, KY) and Secret Stuff (Nashville, TN) are heading out on tour together.
Secret Stuff’s debut 5-song EP, This Is Fine, will be released digitally and on 12″ vinyl on January 29 via Spartan Records. Engineered and produced by Jon Hicks (Relient K, Haste the Day, Dance Gavin Dance) in his aptly-titled studio, Jon’s House, This Is Fine captures the angst and misery of formative years, set on the backdrop of struggling to do even that. It focuses on shortcomings, the burdens of stress, overly critical self-analysis, and coming to terms with it all (the acknowledgement of which is where the title originates).

NEW ALBUM BY FACCAO CAIPIRA
The southwest blues band Facção Caipira (Hillbilly Faction) has infected Brazil with the release of their first studio album: Homem Bom (Good Man).
With influences from Jack White, The Black Keys, Muddy Waters, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Johnny Winter, the band was formed in 2009, unpretentiously to play covers. But with the high quality of execution for their cathartic shows, the band soon came to be known in the country.
SUNTRODDEN NEW SINGLE
Indie pop artist Suntrodden releases the second single, “It’s Never Over,” off of upcoming EP, Suntrodden I, out February 5. Furthering the EP’s theme of lovingly stripped-down songwriting, this single explores sparse, sunny piano and guitar melodies in the face of a coming apocalypse.
You wouldn’t expect such a serious subject from a song so drenched in bright melodies and uplifting lyrics. Shakers and playful guitars dance around the mix, while confident piano chords hold the progression down. Erik Stephansson’s voice is warm and untouched amidst a seamless dichotomy between dark subject matter and vibrant, minimalistic instrumentation. If you aren’t paying close attention to lines like “Crumbling walls, curtain calls, it’s nobody’s fault,” you might miss the sombre connotation hiding beneath the sunny surface.

“LOCAL ROSES” VIDEO
Dear Boy’s Ben Grey says, “It’s a weird feeling… I know I’m not the only one who curbs things to suit my expectations. When you leave something or somebody behind and find them again later in life, part of you hopes that it’ll be exactly the same as before you left and the other part of you hopes you’ll see things for how they are now. That’s what this song is about. Coming to terms with time meddling with your memories and being okay with what you may have missed out on.” “Local Roses” will be available to purchase on all digital platforms on January 8.

A Season on the Line, the new EP from Glen Hansard, will be available February 19. The album follows Hansard’s Grammy-nominated (Best Folk Album) second solo outing Didn’t He Ramble, which was released last fall. During his worldwide tour in support of Didn’t He Ramble, two songs continued to appear in his set—“Didn’t He Ramble” and “Way Back in the Way Back When”—though neither were included on the recent album or on any official release. This is all part of Hansard’s creative process—honing songs in a live setting. Due to popular demand, Hansard included the two songs on the new EP.

EERIE WANDA TRACK “TO DREAM AGAIN” VIA NOISEY
Eerie Wanda is marked by Marina’s sepia-toned songs, sung in a dreamy tenor and based around timeless melodies and arrangements. The songs stick to a classic formula, evoking a warm summery nostalgia and drawing comparisons to Angel Olsen, Broadcast, & the tuneful dynamics of Buddy Holly. Tadic’s voice is as central as anything else to the album’s success; it’s a two-toned, barely-accented gem of sweetness and melancholy, a distant cousin (somehow) to both Hope Sandoval and “I Am the Cosmos”-era Chris Bell. Tadic’s voice is compelling and consistent throughout the album, both sturdy and sympathetic, the ideal vehicle to carry the band’s often-ornate brocades of sound.
