BRANTLEY GILBERT PLATINUM AGAIN

When Brantley Gilbert hit town, he wanted to make a kind of country music that represented where he came from: rough, straightforward, proud of where lives, aggressive when need be, vulnerable when called for. With Halfway To Heaven, Gilbert’s Big Machine/Valory Records debut, well-past platinum, Just As I Am joins it with over a million scans – making the tattooed songwriter from Jefferson, Georgia one of the rare back-to-back platinum sellers in the genre.

At the CMA Awards radio remotes at the Music City Center, Valory President George Briner surprised the man whose Just As I Am won the 2015 American Music Award for Best Country Album.with the news.

SHAKKA ‘SAY NADA’ REMIX

Having come up through London’s urban scene, Shakka has long been an artist’s artist and after receiving a MOBO nomination for Best Newcomer in 2013, the time is now for Shakka to break through to the mainstream.

Opening with a punchy bassline and a distorted take on Shakka’s vocal, Tazer’s upfront edit on ‘Say Nada’ blurs the line between urban infused house and straight up garage. With hard hitting synth interchanges and deeply rolling basslines, ‘Say Nada’ showcases Tazer’s talents as a producer and perfectly demonstrates.

LUCKY CHARMES RELEASES “DROP THAT BASS”

Drop That Bass is a hot and heavy club stomper by Holland’s Lucky Charmes. Having already caused waves with his recent smash Skank feat. Wiley, Lucky Charmes follows it up with Drop That Bass – which lives up to its title dropping a jumpy bassline over a catchy house groove.

AL-FATIR “DREAMIN'”

Al-Fatir puts his heart on his sleeve with his new single, Dreamin’. Robbie D’s canvas splices soul with a hint of trap allowing Al-Fatir to truly tell you how it is.

MOUNT MORIAH NEW SINGLE

The cardinal grand cross is one of the most difficult astrological alignments to achieve, and the Greek mythological figure Chiron represents wisdom and healing. The song “Cardinal Cross” illustrates these elements both lyrically and sonically, introducing us to the album with furious energy and clarity of vision. The addition of horns heightens the drama as the guitars swirl and Heather McEntire’s voice seems to summon what she seeks.

THE BY GODS NEW SINGLE

The By Gods breed hook-laden, roll-your-windows-down rock & roll, respectfully reminiscent of the band’s early to mid-90’s alternative predecessors. On the new album, the band grows from a duo into a trio, thanks to the addition of bassist Natalie Pauley, along with original members George Pauley (vocals, guitar) and Tye Hammonds (drums).

Together, The By Gods hit their stride from the opening track and, downstrokes-be-damned, continue delivering their fuzz-guitar-laden youthful energy in crystal-clear high fidelity throughout the album. The new record was recorded by Carl Amburn (Riddle Of Steel, Traindodge, Self-Evident, Town Portal), at his Oklahoma barn studio, The Mousetrap. Out of that barn, a most-impressive beast of an album has germinated and is ready to devour the planet.

CHE-VAL “GONE MAD”

Introducing Che-Val, a unique husband and wife indie music group that blends live orchestration and electronic synths with well-crafted, smash-worthy melodic hooks. Laura Cash is the sultry and striking singer, songwriter, lyricist and science professor (yes, really); hence the Wonder Woman of this dynamic duo. Kenny Cash, the musical genius behind the group, is the Bruce Wayne: producer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, Berklee scholar, and recording engineer. Together, they form a powerful songwriting/production team of undeniable fun and a pop sensation in the making.

CHEVY WOODS NEW VIDEO

Taylor Gang rapper Chevy Woods employs his henchwomen to collect debts in a dystopian Los Angeles scene in the All Def Digital-debuted video for “Getcha Some.” The song, which features Post Malone and rising singer/songwriter PJ, is from Chevy Woods’ recently released The 48 Hunnid Project and was produced by Ricky P, who samples Hudson Mohawke’s “Fuse.”

TWO LEGS NEW SINGLE

Starting off his musical life in Manchester as a member of various Indie bands, Two Legs relocated to Bristol in 2012 and caught the dance music bug, switching to DJing and producing, aiming to go out on a limb and create an individual sound of his own. Although his early productions garnered plenty of interest, as did his bootleg remixes, there was something unsatisfying in using vocal samples and making music solely for the dancefloor. He was listening to DJ Koze, Caribou, Benoit & Sergio, David August… he wanted his music to be haunting and powerful. He soon realised he needed to go back to his roots and introduce a songwriting element and live instrumentation to his music. He also wanted the songs to actually be about something.

ELLIOT MAGINOT “SURVIVAL”

Montreal-based Elliot Maginot unveils new video for Survival, new single from his debut full length YOUNG/OLD/EVERYTHING.IN.BETWEEN produced by Jace Lasek (Besnard Lakes, Suuns). The song registers in Maginot’s peculiar brand of atmospheric folk, although the melody reveals this time a sense of urgency and spontaneity Pierre-Luc Racine, the director, was able to capture in a beautifully shot video. A brilliant and mesmerizing piece.

WE ARE THE CITY “KISS ME HONEY”

The last month and a half has seen We Are The City emerge from a self-imposed, total social media blackout, to reveal a grainy, 24/7 video stream showing the B.C. trio sequestered in an undisclosed location creating their third album, Above Club before their fan’s eyes. There are obvious questions about We Are The City recording in a make-shift studio apartment, seemingly above a nightclub. The live stream, hosted from wearethecity.ca ended rather suddenly and dramatically last week, with an unknown person in the band’s studio, messing with the band’s gear and laptops.

KRAYZIE BONE OF BONE THUGS-N-HARMONY GOES SOLO

To be cemented as one of the most influential members of the hip-hop community is no small feat. Being the leader of the biggest selling hip-hop group of all time, with 25 Million records sold, is a historic milestone and that is what Krayzie Bone achieved over the course of his extensive career.

Due to his participation as a member of the legendary group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, he has established a fanbase so loyal that they have followed him along his solo path for two decades. These fans have been conditioned to expect their “fix” of new music almost yearly and after such a long hiatus coupled with promises of the long-awaited final album, Chasing The Devil, they are almost going through the beginning stages of withdrawal.
