SKOPE NEWS FOR OCTOBER 13, 2015

IL VUOTO NEW LYRIC VIDEO

If sorrow could have a sound that would be Il Vuoto’s noise. Influenced by the coldness of Shape of Despair, the melancholy of Monumentum and Nortt’s lo-fi malevolent aura, Il Vuoto crafts its own cocktail of “noisy” Funeral Doom Metal. However, Il Vuoto has an even noisier side, as shown on its demo Rehearsal vol.1, which features an extremely drone aspect of doom metal by the likes of bands such as Earth and Sunn O))).

TARQUIN MANEK NEW SINGLE

A unique synthesis of time-dilating folk-jazz romanticism, brittle chamber dub and plasmic post-techno electronics, it’s the Australian’s first full solo release on Blackest Ever Black, but by no means his first contribution to the label: as one half of Tarcar (with Carla dal Forno), he has given us the dysfunctional dreamsongs of Mince Glace and ‘Eija’; and as one third of F ingers (with dal Forno and Samuel Karmel) helped summon the baleful backyard apparitions of recent LP Hide Before Dinner; while his own ‘Not Missing You’ features on the BEB compilation I Can’t Give You The Life You Want. Manek has been busy elsewhere, too: he released Th Duo, an LP made under his LST alias, on Another Dark Age earlier this year.

Having previously collaborated on their release “Knives,” Dutch producers Alpharock and Vida join up once more for the high voltage electro-house hit “Guitar Hero.” Out now via Musical Freedom, “Guitar Hero” features rich, lofty leads embedded with hard stomping beats.

Jeffrey Lens, better known by his moniker Alpharock, has been turning heads since the release of his first original, “Drop the Guns,” which instantly hit the Beatport Electro House Top 10 chart. At 19 years old, the young artist has seen tremendous support from some of the biggest players in music such as Hardwell, Showtek, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and Martin Garrix. Currently Alpharock is continuing his success at Netherlands’ finest clubs including Club AIR and Jimmy Woo.

SUN CLUB DEBUT NEW SONG “WORM CITY”

Sun Club’s first-ever full length LP, The Dongo Durango, finds the band joyously deconstructing the traditional pop song-then rebuilding it with off-kilter time signatures, gleefully unhinged vocals, and sunny hooks that sink deep into your already fevered brain.

LIBRARY VOICES NEW SINGLE “ZZYZX”

Library Voices hit us with their second single “Zzyzx” – one part love song and one part ode to a strange little place in the middle of the Mojave desert.

The story goes that back in ’44 a radio evangelist and self-proclaimed doctor started squatting there and recruited a bunch of homeless people from skid row in LA to build a 60 room mineral spa. It was complete with a church, a radio station to broadcast his rants, and an airstrip he called the Zyport. Somehow he remained there illegally until the 1970s, selling fake medical remedies and taking money from senior citizens for his ministry until the U.S. government eventually evicted him.

“ONE MORE TRY”

Matt LeGrand brings on an emotional and heartfelt ballad on his new single “One More Try.” LeGrand’s usual charismatic dance-pop style takes a backseat to intense emotional nakedness on this stunning new single writen by Brandon Howard (Vanessa Hudgens, Bow Wow, Ne-Yo, and Latoya Jackson.) Synths and layers of harmonies build dramatically over the whispering piano and aching strings, crafting a dynamic piece of music you won’t soon forget. Matt’s emotive vocals meld into the lush groove, heightening the nuanced simplicity that the melody captures. It’s all about the heartbreak on this one, as LeGrand takes listeners on a desperate journey to win back the woman he loves. Take a listen as he sheds all the bells and whistles and loses himself in this beautiful new track.

FORT LEAN “21”

Each guy featured in the clip welcomed video director and friend of the band Ethan Berger into his own room to capture the intimate sing-along. It’s all soft-lit, sort of like an old video, kind of playful, but on-point with the good natured group’s aesthetic. Hit play above and you’ll see.” – THE FADER
