WIZARD EYE NEW ALBUM
Philadelphia psychedelic rock trio, WIZARD EYE, will release its self-titled new full-length this Fall via Black Monk Records. Recorded in three days at Haddon Heights, New Jersey’s Gradwell House Studios with the imminently irascible and talented Steve Poponi behind the board and mastered by Dave Downham, the long-awaited follow-up to the band’s 2010 Orbital Rites debut takes WIZARD EYE’s signature brand of mind-bending riffs and kaleidoscopic soundscapes to a new level of titanic glory. A fusion of bottom-heavy grooves, fiery fuzz, churning bass, otherworldly effects and raw vocals with roots still planted firmly into the lysergic soil of ’70s acts like Hawkwind, Budgie, Blue Cheer, Captain Beyond, Motörhead and Black Sabbath, Wizard Eye shows the band operating at the pinnacle of its creative and musical abilities.

LAMON MANUEL “S–T. EVERYTHING WE HAVE TOGETHER IS FALLING APART”
Lamon describes the new single as “a song about watching everything that matters most fall apart and not being sure what to try to save first, wondering if anything is worth saving or if there’s any hope in trying. I had no definitive answers on that when I was writing the song. I don’t really have any now. The woman I thought I’d spend the rest of my life with left me and I just wanted to feel nothing most of the time. I spent a lot of time drinking too much, getting sad literature tattoos and wandering back and forth between the north and south side of Chicago, thinking about the time I had lost investing myself in caring for someone else and now having to figure out who I was and what I wanted without her, if I wanted anything at all. I didn’t have many songs to listen to to probably score what I was experiencing so I ended up writing some. And all of this happened while I was being Black.”

NAYTRONIX NEW SINGLE
Naytronix’s latest musical offering sees him turning from the disjointedly funky party dance anthems of his debut Dirty Glow (2012, Plug Research) to a surrealist stream of consciousness poignancy. While his music keeps its characteristic reflection of ’70s Onyeabor and Bootsy Collins, there is a new facet of the sincerity and vulnerability of Arthur Russell amidst the psychedelia, as if wishing to land the Naytronix Mothership down to stay with us for a bit.
