PWR BTTM “UGLY CHOICES”
PWR BTTM is a queer punk band consisting of Ben Hopkins and Liv Bruce. The band was formed at Bard College where Bruce and Hopkins bonded over a mutual interest in bringing elements of performance and drag artistry into DIY culture. While at Bard the duo recorded a demo, Cinderella Beauty Shop, and the Republican National Convention split EP with Jawbreaker Reunion. On these releases, Hopkins plays guitar and sings, and Bruce plays drums. Since then, the two have begun to share vocal/songwriting duties and have also started to trade off instruments.
ELLIOTT SMITH TRIBUTE
August 6th warrants celebration as it marks the 46th birthday of late folk songwriter Elliott Smith. Featured in It Isn’t Home, his first full length album due out August 28, Diego Davidenko releases indie folk single “Elliott” on this day of remembrance. The song emulates Smith’s melodic and harmonic style as well as his idiosyncratic recording techniques in a tribute to the late Portlandian singer-songwriter.

BALL & CHAIN MUSIC FESTIVAL
Ball & Chain, the notable and world-famous live music venue located at 1513 SW 8th Street, Miami, FL 33135, is thrilled to present their first annual three-day music festival in honor of the venue’s 80th Anniversary this Labor Day Weekend. The historical hotspot originally opened its doors in September 1935 as a live jazz music venue, closing its doors in the 1950s. The retro jazz bar on Calle Ocho was reopened with an authentic Cuban flare meticulously redecorated in iconic 1950s Miami style by new ownership Ben Bush, Zack Bush and Bill Fuller in September 2014.
This is the first multiple-day musical driven event to celebrate the venue’s 80th birthday. The anticipated live performances will begin on Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 a.m.
