AIDEN GRIMSHAW NEW SINGLE

With his first release in 2012 charting in the top 20 in the UK album charts, Aiden Grimshaw has spent the following years between London and Blackpool. Writing and experimenting away from the limelight with host of producers and songwriters. Most recently working with artist/producer MEMEB in the south of Spain. Aiden and MEMEB, with help from others, have crafted a sound that feels unique.

Today he reveals the first piece of music from their work together. Premiered on The Line of Best Fit who exclaimed “Flitting through shimmering nu-garage synths and crisp dance beats, it’s clear that Grimshaw’s got his mind set on igniting commotion on the dancefloor – an addictive, simple chorus, infectious Balearic hooks, and chilled-out auras all point to an exciting new chapter for Grimshaw.”

KILLAFLAW NEW VIDEO “OWN WAY”

ZOMBI NEW SONGS

The prolific instrumental duo of Steve Moore and A.E. Paterra, known as Zombi, have announced a long awaited new album Shape Shift, due via longtime label Relapse Records on October 16. The album marks a return to the group’s prog-inclined rock roots after a detour into electronic textures on previous albums, a path that had been informed by pursuing the group as a long-distance studio project following their withdrawl from live performance in 2007. Energized by their return to the touring circuit in 2013 (supporting Italian horror soundtrack legends Goblin), the band resumed regular rehearsals to compose as a unit. The resulting album is their most cohesive and representative to date, nine songs brimming with head nodding beats and hypnotic keyboard runs. Moore commented on the new material: “It’s a rock record – think of it as a follow-up to Surface To Air. There are no techno jams or symphonic prog fantasies. No solo track interludes. We have officially moved from ‘studio project’ mode back into ‘live band’ mode.”

BROOKE ANNIBALE “REMIND ME”

On October 2, singer/songwriter Brooke Annibale will release her fourth full-length studio album The Simple Fear. Evident, is her ability to build momentum and fully develop the sound while also keeping two feet on the ground, which is an especially rare encounter within her genre.”

PATTY GRIFFIN SHARES FIRST NEW SONG “RIDER OF DAYS”

Patty Griffin is sharing the first new song, “Rider of Days,” from her new album, Servant of Love out September 25. . Yesterday, NPR premiered the track, exclaiming, “Every Patty Griffin song arrives fully and perfectly formed, which is perhaps her greatest gift. She doesn’t require explanation or context, and she doesn’t have material that requires lead-up to enjoy. Her songwriting is honest and compassionate no matter the subject, her voice uniquely compelling and her guitar work unfailingly evocative. “Rider of Days” is more impressionistic than literal, but Griffin’s deceptively simple lyrics locate the emotional core of her bicycle-riding narrator. With that voice as a guide, no traveller can wander too far.”

Providing listeners a buffet of heavy bars, metaphors and similes to head-bop to. Homeboy Sandman’s pen game and original style is well respected in Hip Hop and this track proves that RedBaren 907 felt right at home following his lead over an ill production, orchestrated by Shafeeq Beats.

KODACROME “WHITE LOVE”

The video for “White Love” was conceived in Kodacrome’s kitchen last winter. After months of Mary Shelley-style experimentation (involving the laborious extraction of vanilla beans, and finding that perfect fat-to-water ratio), Elissa discovered a secret formula to create silky smooth melts. Each little shape and letter was poured by hand, wrapped into neatly labeled wax paper packages, and jam packed in a small freezer. (Needless to say, the frozen lasagna had to go). There were many lost shapes and letters along the way, and many a night spent crouched on the floor trying to find missing Ws. It was always the Ws.

!!! LISTEN TO “FREEDOM! ‘15” AND “SICK ASS MOON”

Combining punk abandon and tightly-coiled dance music has always been bonded into the band’s DNA. It’s this core plus their growth and mastery of songwriting that has seen them outlive the mid-2000s ‘indie/dance punk’ tag and has allowed them to consistently grow lyrically and sonically from album to album. As If is their most consummate collection of songs yet.
