SKOPE NEWS FOR JULY 29, 2015

A PROCESS OF “BLACK ROSE” SINGLE

Since 2003 Dave Altheim, Brad Mackenzie, Craig ‘Buddha’ Stephens and Pete J. Alexander have been electrifying both listeners & audiences nationally under the moniker of A PROCESS OF. Their name pays homage to nineties hardcore-crossover outfit ‘Turmoil’ and their 1999 album entitled ‘The Process Of’. A Process Of precariously balance somewhere between Punk, Rock, Metal and Hardcore. From the very beginning they’ve refused to be defined by lazy clichés and simplified catchphrases. Twelve years, four releases and countless live shows later A Process Of has successfully melded genres whilst retaining solid song writing continuity. Their latest self- titled LP is a powerfully intense & anthemic rock offering projecting the four piece to new creative heights.

NOVEMBRE ALBUM STREAM

Somewhere between dark slam/hip-hop music, post-hardcore textures, spoken words explorations and black metal, NOVEMBRE is a French organic duo born in 2012 and made up of Olivier Lacroix (aka L’Amiral D.) & Jérémie Noël (aka Le Pendu) also involved in the post-metal/sludge outfit Erlen Meyer. Influenced by bands such as Cult of Luna, Portishead, La Rumeur and Casey.
In a few words : NOVEMBRE operates in a hybrid style mixing dark atmospheres, hip-hop vibes and post-anything soundscapes, all wrapped in a black atmosphere like thrillers movies/novels.

PETER GABRIEL IN VINYL

On October 2, 2015, Peter Gabriel’s first four self-titled solo albums will be made available on vinyl for the first time since 2002. The first three albums are affectionately known as Car, Scratch and Melt due to their iconic Hipgnosis designed covers, while the fourth album is entitled Security.

“I really wanted the first record to be different from what I’d done with Genesis so we were trying to do things in different styles,” says Peter Gabriel. “A bit of barbershop, which Tony Levin helped with, there were more bluesy things, a variety of songs and arrangements that were consciously trying to provide something different than what I’d done before.”

MAN WITHOUT A CLUE “BOOTY”

Man Without A Clue returns to Clueless Music with his second release on the label, ‘Booty’. A highly addictive and straight up big room stomper. ‘Booty’ consists of MWAC’s signature thumping basslines, old school vocal cut-ups, tight percussions and striking hi-hates. A solid number ready to bring the house down.

IKES “PRAY FOR ME”

IKES has been entertaining hip‐hop fans on both sides of the Atlantic with his distinguished mix of raw realism, cheeky lyricism, and clever word play.

IKES began his music career at the tender age of 14 as a Garage MC. He honed his musical skills by studying the crafts of some of the greats; such as Tupac, Biggie, Michael Jackson and more. Hailing from the edge of Hackney, Ikes was later signed to Indie label Reignassance, which was also home to such UK names as Chipmunk, Random Impulse and Wizzy Wow at the time.

NYC PUNK OUTFIT BUENO A-SIDE “ASSED OUT” STREAMING NOW

Bueno lead man Luke Chiaruttini first met Mikey Gagliardi, who plays guitar and sax, on a bus ride home from Catholic school. Mikey threw his shoe at Luke’s head, and then kindly asked for Luke to give it back. It was one of the many quiet rebellions that Mikey, Luke, Joe Imburgio (bass), AJ Pantaleo (drums), and Mike DiBenedetto (guitar) would engage in throughout their adolescent years growing up and fucking up in Staten Island. Whether sneaking in underage for rock shows at the nowdefunct Martini Red, or journeying to the middle of nowhere Staten Island to play packed shows, the guys of Bueno know music at their home base can be an uneven struggle. Yet the borough holds a quiet abundance of creative energy that has pushed Bueno to be as enterprising as any other act throughout the five boroughs.

ARUM RAE “I LOVE LOVE”

Wanted to shoot over “I Love Love” (Bandcamp), a new song from the incredible Arum Rae. “I Love Love” is her first new release of 2015, and is a gorgeous little ditty she cooked up in her remote cabin in Virginia while writing the songs that will be on her new full-length (slated for a Spring 2016 release). She’s also announced a round of US tour dates in late August/early September, where she’ll be joined by Pavement’s Steve West on drums!

HEAD OVER HEART SHARE VIDEO FOR “FALL BACK IN LOVE”

“I Don’t Mind” is the saga of a particularly disenfranchised city-dweller, detached from their angst through self-medication and emotional denial. Written and performed primarily by singers/multi-instrumentalists Jordan Prather and Belinda Esquer, the song has the shimmering glow of a pocket symphony for an iPhone age, with an undercurrent of slow burning dread. The song is Head Over Heart’s finest to date, not least because of the duo’s singular knack for articulating the most primordial pain of the id tumbling over itself into the crisis management facades of the super-ego.

FICTONIAN NEW SINGLE

‘Little Blue Book’ follows on from the release of previous album tracks ‘Full Circle Influence’ and ‘Double Negative’, and more recently the single ‘Make It Be Ours’. All have been released to widespread acclaim, gaining plaudits from the likes of Line of Best Fit, NME (Buzz of The Week) and Q Magazine. La Blogothèque also recently featured a beautiful performance of ‘Double Negative’ as part of their acclaimed Take Away series, watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMeYTi2VArg

In recent months Fictonian has completed live dates with Nick Mulvey, which included a show at London’s Roundhouse, as well as his own very special sold-out London headline show at St Pancras Old Church on July 16. Further live dates to be announced soon.

RACOON BANDIT NEW SINGLE

Equal parts sprawling folk-rock, psych-tinged indie, and adventurous songwriting, the new album from Racoon Bandit emphasizes the Charlottetown band’s knack for well-plotted arrangements that hide an anthemic bite.

The follow-up to 2011’s Into The Hills sees all four members – Fraser McCallum, Roger Carter, and brothers Scott and Adam Gallant – trading off songwriting duties in the tradition of East Coast stalwarts such as Sloan and Thrush Hermit. Through the Paul Simon-inspired bass lines of “You Got Into It,” the Traveling Wilburys drive of “On The Hook,” and the trad-ballad infused melodies of “Believe Me,” the album retains an unmistakable cohesion and warmth.

ELAD ZABINSKI “CROSSROADS”

After releasing his debut album in May 2014 “Moving to Wonderland” that was considered to be a Rock Pop Alternative album, Elad faced the decision if, how and when should he move on to create a new project? The answer was, not quite.

Elad decided to try something new with his old songs and he chose his two first singles: “Crossroads” and “Moving to Wonderland”. His new approach was to step to the more acoustic folk world, more to the singer- songwriter vibe.

The question is why did he decided to take this approach with his old songs instead of investing that energy to a completely new project? The answer is that he felt that something was missing in those songs and that it would be unfair to the songs not explore their other sides.

TEN BANDS ONE CAUSE

Over a year ago, RED Distribution teamed up with some of its premiere label partners and artists to create and launch Ten Bands One Cause, a program that involved the creation of limited pink vinyl for ten different releases.

The program, which included notables like Against Me!, Courtney Barnett, Jason Isbell, Lucius, Temples and others, coincided with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October). It raised nearly $30,000 for Gilda’s Club NYC, an innovative cancer support organization founded in 1995 by psychotherapist Joanna Bull, Gene Wilder, Mandy Patinkin, Joel Siegel, and other generous individuals, in memory of SNL vet/actor/comedienne, Gilda Radner, who passed away in 1989 from cancer.

On September 29th, RED is set to release its second annual run of limited edition copies of pink vinyl from Run The Jewels, Sturgill Simpson, Ingrid Michaelson, Joey Bada$$, Between The Burried and Me, Chet Faker, Clutch, Al Green, Pierce The Veil, and Primus. The releases will be available for purchase at retailers nationwide wherever vinyl is sold, and proceeds will sponsor Gilda’s Club NYC.

NEW SINGLE FROM KHARY DURGAN

Khary on DK64: I made this song a few months ago after Ozhora Miyagi had sent me a bunch of beats. This one stuck out to me because I really couldn’t picture myself rapping on it. It sounds like if the music for Donkey Kong 64 had been turned into a trap soundtrack (hence the name). The song was half written and half a freestyle; I just had fun with it. I sent Akeem Team, who’s been killing it, some artwork ideas and here we are with me fishing, Pepe the Frog, and a Magicarp.

IN SEARCH OF SUN, REVOLVER LAUNCH “ELEVATION” MUSIC VIDEO

In Search of Sun told Revolver: “No matter what knocks you down in life, you can always find that inner strength within you to get right back up and persevere. The sky is the limit and that’s exactly the message we want to get across in this song. You have two choices in life – remain scared and settle for a mediocre existence, forever in the shadow of your fears and anxieties, OR you can pick yourself up and eliminate everything that tries to consume you with a positive mind-set. Life is what you make it. Elevate yourself.”
